I am amazed you are able to concentrate like that while running. I thought of one of your mental stategies during my long run on Saturday: naming animals that start with the letters of the alphabet going backwards (going backwards alphabetically, not running backwards!) This was around mile 15 and I wasn't thinking very clearly. I couldn't get past "V". I thought "viking", and it took me a minute to realize a viking wasn't a zoo-type animal. Yah, so I didn't get past "V".Suzie Petuniahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13387520367654400467noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19163408.post-68550184829238193472007-08-19T20:42:00.000-07:002007-08-19T20:42:00.000-07:00My main little bit of advice would be to stay away...My main little bit of advice would be to stay away from any trendy dvds-- Denise Austen or Kathy Smith doing yoga.... no thanks!

My favorite DVD is called Power Yoga by Baron Baptiste. It has a green cover. I bought it at overstock.com, but that was a while ago. It is awesome and quite challenging. He is extremely clear and specific about what to do. There are so many different ways to go with yoga. I am a fan of power yoga and vinyasa ("flow yoga"). It is powerful movements done in a meditative flowing sequence, synchronized with breath.

I wrote a post about yoga on my blog a while ago, if you are interested. It has been life changing for me. I know that sounds dramatic, but it's the truth.

http://itsawonderfulwonderfulworld.blogspot.com/2007/06/yoga-union.html

I love to talk about it anytime, just let me know.

p.s. I've heard of Bikram yoga, but have never tried a class. They have a Bikram studio in town, I just haven't done it.Chellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14913067924030367632noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19163408.post-64628464341397218372007-08-18T23:13:00.000-07:002007-08-18T23:13:00.000-07:00Sunriver is beautiful, but I have only seen it wit...Sunriver is beautiful, but I have only seen it with snow on the ground. Now I definitely need to go in the summer sometime. Sounds like a beautiful run. You continue to amaze me with your running/rhyming skills. I will admit I listed to music my whole run today. (And I had to listen to "Eye of the Tiger" twice to get me up my last hill! Does this make me weak?! :-)Kelly(M&M)https://www.blogger.com/profile/10667877708280021302noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19163408.post-39016485717375264662007-08-18T21:29:00.000-07:002007-08-18T21:29:00.000-07:00We are always thinking about moving to Bend! I love the energy and adventurous spirit over there.

I read the latest Runners World while on vacation and am now thinking that I definitely need to find a yoga class. Uta Pippig gives yoga credit for her running and I know you love it, too. Any advice for someone getting started? I've taken Bikram Yoga classes but thought maybe I could start with a DVD at home or something. ?cherlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06385659910370689653noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19163408.post-9885740659390167502007-08-18T13:41:00.000-07:002007-08-18T13:41:00.000-07:00I love sunriver. I'm taking notes from you-- the runner/poet! ; )

I went to an extra long and challenging yoga class this morning instead of running because it was raining outside. it was great. But my legs are starting to get anxious.... they're ready to run again!

Glad you had a great time in Sunriver. I'd move to Bend in a heartbeat!Chellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14913067924030367632noreply@blogger.com
