I am almost 15 weeks along, and seem to be in the same boat as Clare - not showing yet, but still running about 9-10 minute miles when I used to run 7:30-8:30's consistently. I worry about overheating, but my doctor reminded me just how hard it is to really overheat as long as I am drinking plenty of water. The fact that you were able to run until 30 weeks is outstanding - I hope to do the same! Have you kept up any cross training since you stopped running (walking, spinning, swimming, etc.)
Clare - I'd love to keep up with how you're doing since we seem to be expecting at the same time! Congrats to you both!Tammi1407https://www.blogger.com/profile/12776958657842958847noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19163408.post-86287736092941749552008-06-20T07:16:00.000-07:002008-06-20T07:16:00.000-07:00I can totally relate to your question. In fact I ...I can totally relate to your question. In fact I ran with a friend who was expereinced at running during pregnancy and I asked her the same question. I was worried that I was too much in my head about being pregnant and wanted to seperate really how my body felt and how I was thinking about it in my head. I learned that your body just does what it can no matter what you think.
I slowed down right away but the further I got into the pregnancy the slower I got. I was running comfortably at your stage of pregnancy at the same pace (my usual pace was also 8-9 min miles). I would even feel good enough to push it at the end of a run. The further along I got and the bigger i got my pace slowed down. I ended up at 30 weeks running between 10-11 min miles.
I would say that it is totally normal to feel slow even if your not showing...when you think about it look how hard your body is working to simply take care of you and the baby. To add running in there it requires a lot from your body.
My advice (which was hard for me to do) is just take it slow and try not to think about time at all. I finally got to the point that I could do this and I was just happy to be running. I hope this helps. If you have questions along the way please ask because it sounds like we are pretty compatible runners.Roxannehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17821755209848969858noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19163408.post-59781738453138549922008-06-20T05:12:00.000-07:002008-06-20T05:12:00.000-07:00I'd like to know how much people slowed down their...I'd like to know how much people slowed down their pace, and when, during pregnancy. Either voluntarily or involuntarily! I knew I was pregnant when I went for a run and felt like a truck hit me. Now at 14 weeks, some days I feel almost normal (for short distances) but usually I'm running 9-10 minute miles with the same effort I used to run 8-9. At least I THINK it's the same effort. I might just be using pregnancy as an excuse to slow down (which is ok I guess). I'm not showing yet so part of me thinks I shouldn't be any slower. (This is my first.)

ClareClarehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13062114889126850617noreply@blogger.com
