Millie

Meet Millie! She's been in our basement since yesterday afternoon. I just tried to go for a first run, but it didn't go so well. The baby wasn't very happy in her swing and one of the dogs tried licking the sweat from my legs as I ran. I only got in 1.7 miles (but at a speedy 8:20 pace -- oh, how I love being able to program the desired pace) before I needed to stop and take care of the baby.

Millie is still down there and I can almost hear her calling me... Cherl, come run with me! I'll have to try again tomorrow.

I love that you've named "her"! How do you know for sure that she is a girl??

Tread mills can be a real drag when you could be enjoying beautiful weather, but they definitely have their good side, too. I especially love them in the middle of rainy NW winters. I love the programming features. I've done my best speed workouts on tread mills with the benefit of how easy it is on your legs. Speed work on the streets tends to injure me in one way or another. But the tread mill - its like butter (buttah!)

I agree...I much prefer running outside. I seem to get bored on treadmills. But I do love it when it is 120 degrees in Phoenix and I can run inside anytime I want!

I don't have a name for mine...I will have to consider that!

If I had a treadmill, it would have a really awful name... Horace or Beezlebub. Something that would make me want to stay far, far away from it. ha ha

Glad that you and Millie have a good thing going! : )

Yeah! Congrats on the treadmill. As much as I dislike them, they are very useful when it is icy and yucky outside. Nice speed!! Someday I will attempt to be faster. :-)

I love LOVE my treadmill. She/he/it (needs some consideration) is my dear friend--I yearn for her when we are forced apart, I will awaken before dawn for her, and I will ignore my kids and husband for her.

Okay, this is overstating it a tad, but at the moment I equate running with my treadmill--I only get outside once a week. That's not how I'd choose it, but I have learned to love my alternative to outside running. Because otherwise I'd be SOL.

That doesn't mean I'm not ogling the elliptical trainer Costco will be having a promo on in a few weeks. She may have some competition! (And before I've even named her. What a shame.)

Hello, Cherl. I'm Suzie's cousin-in-law and am in the market for a new treadmill. I am not a marathon mommy--in fact, I am working on being a 5K mommy--so I use my treadmill for walking and running, with the goal of running more. My treadmill is now 13 years old! It's time to upgrade.

So, I forgot my question, do you have any recommendations?

Hi, sticky niki! Millie isn't top of the line, but a basic model with enough features to keep her interesting. She's a Bowflex 7 Series purchased on sale at GI Joe's for around $1K. I would have loved the $4K model I saw at another store, but Millie will certainly do me proud and earn her keep... :)

You know, the tread mills at the gym have saved me since it stays dark in the mornings now.

I love reading eveyone's comments! They make me laugh and wish I were a more eloquent writer. That is the very reason I don't write much. I do read this almost everyday though. Keep it coming ladies!
