Salt Lake Marathon in Training!

Okay, Mommies!

Who's in? Who's out? Who's full? Who's half? Who's [officially] registered? Who's excited? And what training plan are you using?

Here are my answers:

I'm in.
For the full.
I'm registered (official).
I'm EXCITED!
I'm using Hal Higdon Intermediate 2 training plan.

And for those who are not training for the Salt Lake -- please comment and share your goals and plans so we can cheer you on, too!

Ready? Set?

Roll Call.

Not officially registered yet.
Using Hal Higdon's intermediate 1.

Chelle, have you ran a marathon before??? Do you think intermediate 1 will be adequate enough for me, a first timer?? I don't want to die during the marathon!

I'm in too!

I registered on New Years Eve for the FULL AHAHAHAHHHAHAHH!

I am apparently using Hal Higdon's intermediate 1 as well (Ang just tells me what I am running each week, isn't she great?)

I'm so excited, scared beyond belief, but ready for the biggest stretch of my entire life.

Count me in for the full too! Although I am kicking myself for putting off registration and now it is $80 instead of $70! Doh!

Ang and Team Hanni- The intermediate will be great for you! Any of the plans work, you just have to find the one that best fits into your life.

I am following Hal Higdon Advanced 2 unless I start feeling too sore from the 3 days of speedwork, then I will switch to the 1!

Yay, yay, yay!!! I love this!!!

Ang,
I've run two (Salt Lake both times fan). I think that Hal Higdon's intermediate will have you more than sufficiently prepared-- you will do great with it. I am not doing the advanced simply because I don't want to run 6 days a week -- 5 works better for my life.

woo hoo this is fun to talk about!

I'm in for the full! Haven't registered yet, but it is on my to-do list. ($80?! Yikes!) I'm with M&M and using Hal Higdon's Advanced 2.

It is going to be so fun to meet all of you in person. I want to plan a pre-marathon pasta party for the night before at my parent's home in Bountiful. Mark you calendars!

I would like to meet everyone but I will be in Boston that weekend. They have a little marathon on Monday that I will be doing. Maybe you've heard of it before. I will be in SL in spirit. I hope you all will cheer me on as well.

Chelle,

I ran SLC half last year - If I remember right the half and full runners break apart about mile 4 or 5 - I only remember one little climb at the beginning the rest was pretty flat with a few down hills. From what the map says, the full looks a little hilly. Will you fill me in on the half I missed out on last year?

THANKS!

Okay ladies, I'm in trouble. I need to get back home, off of vacation and start running. I'll post about my New Year's Eve 5K later, but lets just preface it with DISASTER. ;( Apparently Blackfoot where I have been running is very flat and the course I had to run was hilly. I thought I was going to die and I'm still sore. Glad I did it, but I cried the last mile. Pathetic.

There are a couple of hills in the full marathon course ... but honestly... nothing too ridiculous and from Van Winkle Expressway all the way through to the end is flat, flat, flat!

It's sort of hilly through Sugar House Park (which is mile 7-ish)and then there is the hill passing under the freeway on 20th east, then you head up hill to 27th east. But again, I would not call it a hilly course and like I said, it is blessedly flat as a pancake through the entire last half.

Hope that helps.

By the way, I ran the Salt Lake half last year, too (I did the full in '05 and '06 and the half in '07). It's a really good half marathon course. Did you like it?

I'm gearing up to register for the Air Force Marathon, in September. I'm kind of scared.

Chelle,

THANKS!!! That helped! I'm not as nervous.

SLC half is my favorite so far. The starting line was so exciting, bands along the way, lots of people cheering, and the BEST finish line at the Gateway. I felt like a rock star. I think everyone should run this one!

FOX-

I take my hat off to you!!! I wish it was close enough for all of us to come cheer for you. What an accomplishment to qualify for this race! I can't wait to hear about your race. You are amazing!

Hi gals!! I am back from the Mexico and all geared up ready to go. I registered before I left on vacation for the HALF.

I'm really excited to get moving on the training...I've been out of commission for TOO LONG!!
