erin,
Thanks for the songs! If you don't mind, keep listing! I am not aware of these fun songs, because we just don't listen, but they sure are motivating!

I listen to such a variety and each song does something different for me. I too love Kelly Clarkson, mostly her upbeat songs, but "Breakaway" brings out such emotions for me because of my first marathon. I was struggling at mile 7 and that song came on and the view across the bay (Newport Marathon) was incredible and I just cried tears of joy. So, I remember that feeling every time I listen to that song. I love "Footloose," "Wild, Wild West," and Britney Spears "Stronger." I also like N' Sync's "Bye bye bye." I know, I am a nerd. :-)

Welcome to all of the new posters!

As soon as we thaw out here, I've committed myself to start running...and I'm NOT a runner at all. But you guys are inspiring! So thanks for the song suggestions. I'll get them on my ipod and wait until I can see the sidewalk! Wish me luck!

Okay, you're probably going to be sorry you asked after my reply. I LOVE music ... it is one of the main reasons I love running - the chance to turn on my tunes and tune out the world and run hard. Here are just a few of my all time faves (and I cut down this list drastically from my original)

For the country gal:
(I LOVE Country!)
9 to 5 - Dolly Parton
My Baby Loves Me - Martina McBride
My Give a Damn's Busted -
Jo Dee Messina
She's Not Just a Pretty Face - Shania Twain
This one's for the girls - Martina
Up! - Shania
Little Red Rodeo - Collin Raye
Sold - John Michael Montgomery
Callin' Baton Rouge - Garth Brooks
If My Heart Had Wings - Faith Hill
I Just Wanna Be Mad - Terri Clark

Other great ones: (random, I know, but give 'em a try!)
Break My Stride - Matthew Wilder
Bootylicious - Destiny's Child
Dancing Queen - ABBA
Waterloo - ABBA
What's Up?- D.J. Miko
Wannabe - Spicegirls
Billie Jean - Michael Jackson
Just Can't Get Enough - Depeche Mode
Unwritten - Natasha Bedingfield
Stupid Girls - PINK
Good Woman Down - Mary J. Blige
It's Like That - Mariah Carey
Better Be Good To Me - Tina Turner
Breakaway - Kelly Clarkson
Miss Independent - Kelly Clarkson
Gettin' Jiggy Wit It - Will Smith
Men In Black - Will Smith
Holding Out For a Hero - Bonnie Tyler
Start Me Up - The Rolling Stones
Irreplaceable - Beyonce
Never is Enough - Barenaked Ladies

Something you should know about me - I teach aerobics, so I love songs with a strong beat and that feeling that just gets you PUMPED! A lot of my list has memories attached, from races, teenage school dances and parties, etc. But I think they'd be good for anyone! And, a huge ditto to Suzie Petunia's list ... I have almost every single one of those on my playlist too!
