Run Reports for President Hinckley Dedication Run

Hey Everyone! I can't wait to hear how everyone's run/walk/bike went. I had a great 16 mile run with Suziepetunia, foxontherun, sticky Niki, smith, and many other runners that was snowing for the second half. It was beautiful and inspiring. I listened to a couple of President Hinckley's talks and just tried to think about ways I can follow him and be a little better. I will write a longer report on my blog. I was also very happy to hear that my sister Heather participated and walked a mile. I am very proud of her!

Edited to add: This was short because I just wanted to quickly make a place for people to leave comments. One of the coolest parts of our run was that we each wore one of the 9 B's on our shirt. Mine was "Be Grateful." It was awesome to know that each of us were trying to really think about what we have learned from the prophet.

Can't wait to hear from everyone else and count up the total mileage. Please leave your comments here. Thanks for your participation and thanks Erin for the wonderful idea. I am sure you never imagined how many people would join in! I am sure President Hinckley is very pleased.

I ran 3 miles this morning and then enjoyed watching President Hinckley's funeral service. I'm happy I could be part of this special tribute.

I ran 7 miles (which is twice as far as I could run a week ago) on the treadmill while watching a documentary on President Hinckley. It was great to spend the time reflecting on such a great man and Prophet. I can't wait to hear how everyone did with their run. I'm glad I committed to doing this:)

5 of us from WRFDJ ran just over 7 miles this morning in honor of Hinck. It was truly an honor, and honestly, running for him made the miles easier. Thanks again for putting together this awesome dedication.

I ran 9 miles and my friend Emily ran 5 of them with me. So log 14 miles for us. Great idea.

i ran a tad over 6 this morning with the 50 pound jogger and would NEVER, NEVER have gone it if i had not had a purpose. it was chilly and the girls took a lot of convincing to get in
i wrote the 9 b's on a piece of paper and had them on top of the stroller underneath the rain guard. I had downloaded his book Way to Be! and listened to it. it was a great day and am so glad ya'll put this together!

I ran/walked 3 miles with my 8 year old daughter. It was a great idea to honor him this way. We talked about Pres. Hinckley and how much we loved and admired him.

I ran a couple of miles tonight and listened to the devotional that President Hinckley gave at BYU a year and a half ago. It was really meaningful, and I'm so glad I did it!

Amy, Amy, and Kelli did our 9 each on snowy roads in Michigan. Then we enjoyed the funeral service. I feel sore tonight, but fulfilled physically and spiritually as I think about President Hinckley's wonderful life.

My running buddy Debbie and I ran 14 miles today. It was awesome. The sun was shinging and everything. I wrote on my feet. One said, GBH and the other said, 1910-2008. We took out pictures before our run with a picture of President Hinckley. I pulled a President Hinckley quote out of my pocket at every mile and read it. It was a beautiful way to spend our morning, remembering our beloved prophet. I will be posting pics on my personal blog.

This was a great run for me. After about 5 miles I was left alone to run and I really enjoyed it. I turned on some talks by President Hinckley and afterwards my favorite part was I turned on some hymns played by Marvin Goldstein and ran to those.(something I have never done) It was very peaceful and it snowed on me. I had several hours to myself listening to beautiful hymns and watching the big beautiful snow fall. I loved it! And it was something I normally would never have done. Count me for a total of 15 miles.

Five gorgeous miles for me. Thanks for getting me back out there after a month of not running! I can't wait to watch the funeral today while all my sick kids sleep!

I have a new grand-daughter as of 7:56am Sat am. I missed run w/pals to be at the hospital when she arrived. That afternoon the sun came out & I ran solo 3.5 miles with sore hip. Every time I wanted to quit I remembered how Pres. Hinckley must have wanted to quit many times, but never did. His inspiration & example kept me going. When done I went home & watched the funeral. What a day, start to finish filled w/beautiful moments. Thanks Erin.

I ran 10k (6.2 miles) in Lake Geneva while thinking of President Hinckley. It was one my favorite races! Thanks for the excellent idea of the dedication run and for allowing everyone across the country to be a part of it!

I ran six miles by myself. I love it the people did something they thought they couldn't for Pres. Hinckley. People like him will always affect us for good, long after they are gone.

I ran across this blog last week-great to see so many inspiring runners. Count 6 miles coming from NJ for the dedication

I ran 7.68 and my hubby did 16. So you can put down 23.68 miles.
I didn't have any talks to listen to, so I ran the first half with zero music and just thought about all of my fond memories of such a great man. Thanks for giving the push for a nice dedication run.
I also ran after watching the funeral so I had all of the wonderful images of president Hinkley throughout the world testifying of the divinely driven life he led.

This was one of the most beautiful runs I have ever been on! It was meaningful for me in so many ways. I wrote about it and posted pictures on my blog: http://suziepetunia.blogspot.com/2008/02/be-true.html

it was great! i ran the 1/2 marathon(London's Run) so i had two purposes...Pres. Hinckley and children with leukemia. i wrote the nine b's on the back of my hand and thought about how i could live those better. my daughters(3 of them) all wanted to participate too. they got one of their friends to join in. So between the four of them, they ran 8 miles...hooray for them. it was hard but they were so proud of themselves. they all had the 9 b's on their hands too. thanks so much for the inspirational run!

I did my 2 miles. About your knees... I inherited bad knees (3 family members with surgery already) so I wouldn't fret too much. If they are bothering you, just make sure and ice them plenty and stretch out that IT band a lot too (press your knee across your body to stretch out leg). My problem with the Salt Lake Marathon is all that downhill, and at the beginning. Pacing yourself for the first few miles helps. When you hit 2100 South with a straight drop maybe walk that block. And when you come to Liberty Park, hop on the grass, that cement is no good for knees. If your knees do start bothering you, let me know, and I can delve out more advice annalisa727@gmail.com. Good luck with the race! I think I'll come watch.

I am desperately out of shape but started running about 3 weeks ago and am training with some family for a half marathon in July (Bryce Canyon). The longest I had ran before Saturday was 30 minutes. But Sat, I ran for 50 minutes, which was a really big deal for me. It was a little over 4 miles and every minute was awesome. My husband ran 8 that day. Count us for 12 total and thanks for being such an inspirational group of women.

I was out for about 40 minutes (don't know mileage) running/walking. I listened to some great conference talks and took a small picture of President Hinckley with me. We had some freezing rain the night before in Connecticut and I only fell once!
