One Little Tiny Month!!!

Can you even believe SLC is one month away???? WOW. I'm wondering if anyone else is running this as their very first marathon too? I'm kind of getting super nervous and all of my thought revolve around this race. I am already losing sleep thinking about it.

Also, just wondering who is using their iPod and who isn't. I'm on the fence whether I want to use it or not. A part of me want to take in the whole experience without listening to music. But then again, running without my motivational songs makes me nervous. What do you think?

AND what is the weather like? What kind of outfit should I wear? Capris, shorts, tank top, sleeves??? Any Utahans that can enlighten me? I want to wear what I intend to wear during the marathon on my 20 mile run next Sat. so I need to make a decision.

Thanks for your input. Happy training!

If the weather is like last year - I wore capris (underarmour) and a short sleeved shirt. Before the race, I about froze to death even with a fleece jacket on. Once we got going it was the perfect outfit for me. It was around 50 degrees about an hour into the race. Hope that helps...

Ipod or no ipod.... I saw lots of them last year. I didn't have one and had only trained while talking to my running buddies. Good luck with the decision.

I wore capris and a long sleeve dryfit shirt last week on a 9 miler. It was perfect on a drizzly Sat. morning. It was great today but will rain/snow tomorrow so you never know.

26.2 miles without the tunes? Never! I usually don't turn on my music until about 1/2 way through race... right when I need to "get down to business". I'd bring it along just in case.

I thought about this today too-exactly one month. Can you believe we are here?

Ipod: I will have mine with me, but I am hoping not to use it except to get me up hills. :-)

Clothing- I am hoping to be able to wear a short sleeved T shirt and skirt. I am going to practice wearing it on my 12 miler this week in someplace warm...woo hoo!! (Read my blog if you are confused)

I-tunes? YES! Halfway through, like SuzieP, but I also take them off at times to get the "feel" of what I am doing... crowds cheering, music playing, runners chatting (or huffing). I don't block it all out with music, BUT music has been a key to success in my experience.

I live here in SLC and I can tell you that even though it's still chilly right now, on race day I will wear shorts and a tank top. The starting line is SO cold, so I would wear an extra layer on top and then drop it with family/friend when you are into the run and warmed up. They also have drop off bags at the starting line that you can then pick up at the finish, or just tie it around your waist if that isn't a bother to you.

Historically, April is truly divine and perfect running weather here in Salt Lake. Not too hot, not too cold.

ONE MONTH! Hooray!

I'm not a veteran, but when I did my half, I didn't even think about my music until more than 1/4 of the way into things. Even when I did turn on the music, I only put in one earbud. Mostly because it was so crowded the entire course and I didn't want to run into anyone...but also because I was enjoying the scenery and "event" so much that I didn't want to miss it. So after all that, yes...I'll have my i-pod.

I'm glad you asked the clothing question. I've been so curious.
