"Hey, I saw you running this morning!"
Am I the only one who cringes when she hears this? I've never been a fan of spectators that I personally know. Sure, Joe-I-don't-know can watch me run my entire route. But my husband? My family? My friends? People I know on a casual basis? I don't like it. I'm not comfortable with people I know watching me run. I worry about what I look like at the exact moment I'm spotted. Is my form good? Am I running a decent pace? Am I smiling? Or worse, am I talking to myself? Or even more worse, did they happen to catch me take my .05 mile "walk break" and totally miss my flying 8:20 mile??

Great, now you've made me self conscious. I've always liked people seeing me run because then they know that I was out working my bodacious body. hee hee! Now I'm going to worry about how I look running.
So funny! I agree - and that's why I prefer to run BEFORE the sun comes up (4-6 a.m.)!
Totally agree! My triathlon is in 1 week and the biggest thing that I am nervous about is that a coworker is doing it with me--I really don't want her to watch me do it at all!! All the other strangers are free to watch though-no problem.
This is funny because I love to see people I know running so I can honk and throw a quick thumbs up. I love it when random people do that to me- and would totally love it if someone I know saw me out there. I have never actually thought of what I look like running- hm...
This is funny... because foxontherun drove by me the other day and caught me WALKING up the biggest hill in town. Lucky for me she is not judgmental... and she just ran a marathon herself (BOSTON)... so she knows how sore I was!
I completely agree with you, Cherl. I remember distinctly in one of my first long runs I was forced off the road by a big truck when I was running up a big hill. It threw me off my stride and I walked to the top. one of my friends drove by right then. The next time I ran that hill I turned on "Eye of the Tiger" and powered up it. I will admit I also looked around to see if my same friend happened to be driving by! I wonder how dorky I look, especially because I have seen how I look in marathon pics and it is not pretty!
