Race Day

I was so sad that I was unable to meet you all on Friday night! It was just too crazy with our kids and all the family coming into town. I did meet Team Hanni after the race and was so excited to see her in her Marathon Mommies shirt. I tried to watch for those of you who I recognize from pictures but was unable to pin anyone down. The finish line area was a little too crazy. I just want to say to all who ran that I am so proud of you and think that just being there is an accomplishment. It doesn't matter what stage you are in with your running, you did it!

I thought you might like watching this video my sister made of our race day. It cracks me up every time I watch it...I told you it wasn't going to be pretty (I am the one in the blue shirt just in case you didn't notice the huge belly). I was happy with my race running the 5K in 32 min. I will have to tell you that lugging around a 40 inch gut was challenging and I realized even more that there is now way I could have done the half. My pubic bone still hurts so this will probably be my last run until I have the baby (10 more weeks!). What a way to go out. It was so fun to watch my sisters run the half marathon for me and finish faster than expected. They had never run more than a few miles before and only trained for 6-7 weeks before the race. They ended up running the whole time and finishing in 2 hours 20 min. (which was a big accomplishment because they would not have labeled themselves as runners). I was so proud of them...I hope they will want to run another one after I have the baby. My mom had never ran before and did not think she could ever run a 5K. She ended up running the whole time and finished in 31 min. (she is the one on the video in the red shirt). My older sister flew in from North Carolina to run the race with me. This was her first race and she is just getting back into shape after having four kids close together (her youngest is only 4 months old). I think I slowed her down a bit but it was so fun running together. It was pretty amazing to experience running a race 30 weeks pregnant with such amazing family and friends.

You ladies are awesome and I hope you all are at peace with your race. M&M and Suzie I am impressed with your determination and drive. It was neat to read a little about your race and see how you are processing the whole thing. I bet it is a mix of emotions, but just know that there are a lot of mommies who look up to you and are proud. I was trying so hard to find you at the finish line with your cute shirts but missed you...SO SAD! I love this group and I have only met Team Hanni in person for a few minutes. I can't wait to hear all of your stories and continue on with our running journey. Oh and by the way Suzie I am all for the St George Marathon next year!

It made my day to meet you!!! I can't believe how crazy it was at the finish line. I thought for sure I would see you again, and meet some of the other mommies but just got to cheer a few on from the side.

You did amazing! This running while pregnant is unchartered territory for me and you have inspired me to keep lacing my shoes each day. Thank you!

Sorry Suzie but I don't think I will be ready for 2008. I was thinking next year 2009. Who is interested?
