Shoot for the Moon...

even if you miss, you will land among the stars. This is what one of my good friends told me a few days ago. I knew I was shooting for the moon in setting Boston as my goal. But training to qualify has been one of the best things I have ever done and I do not regret a single hill repeat. :-) Yes, I am disappointed that my race didn't go as I planned and hoped, but this is NOT the end of the road for me. I will be back. (Just not real soon.) I plan on running a few 5ks and 10ks to prove I have gained some speed and then maybe next year I will try again. (I also plan on implementing some Pilates, hint hint Windrunner!)

Suzie Petunia was kind enough to wait up for me once she realized this wasn't going to be her race either and it was awesome finishing a race with her. (And hopefully we will have cute pictures to show for our pain. ) Our time was around 4:03 a PR for me by a couple of minutes. I will give a more detailed report after I have some rest.

Last night the blog party was so much fun! I loved meeting all of you amazing women and can't wait to hear all of your reports. I hope your races went well and that you are satisfied with your training. I am bummed I didn't get to see many of you after the race but my knee was hurting and I could barely walk so we headed out. Please post your race experiences!

Thanks for all of your support in this journey. It is not over. :-)

Congratulations on your PR. Sorry it wasn't the day you had hoped for. You did do very well. I look forward to hearing more about it when we can go on a nice leisurely run together.

Great job on the PR! Life has a way of helping us set goals, it makes our journey that much more rewarding. Sorry it didn't happen just like you would have liked. But improvement is the key to SUCCESS! So YOU are one step closer! Hope you get some good rest and your knee feels better after some icing.

I loved getting to know many of you last night at the party! I wish I could have seen more of you along the run, but it was so fun to see the ones I did see. Erin THANK YOU for the big congrats at the finish line, you made me happy! Can't wait to hear everyone's stories! Rest up!

It was so fun to meet you last night, although briefly. Sorry the race wasn't the qualifying one you hoped for, but playing it safe for your knees sake sounds smart. Wish I would have seen you this morning or something- great job, can't wait to read about the whole thing.

Congrats on your PR! That is a great accomplishment. You should be proud that you are a marathon mommy!!! I'd love to join the site (training for my first half and marathon in the fall)!!

congrats on your PR. that is awesome! i am sorry the race didnt go as planned. mine went well... i finished!!! that half was actually much harder than i thought it would be. it got really tough around mile 10 and didnt really get better until the finish line. it was fun though and i am so glad i did it.
as for my goal of not getting smoked by my father-in-law... i failed. he finished 30 minutes in front of me. i am so excited for him! he worked hard!

Damn that wind! It wasn't my goal time either-- not by a long shot, but really, does it really matter that much? We did something only a really cool club of people can do, and you did it at a pace really hardly anyone can do. You made it, and every race is a success. I am so proud of you!

Congratulations on your PR. I am so amazed by all these runners. I did pretty good--i mean i ran the entire 13.1 miles and didn't die. isn't that great?! i hope to run the full someday..probably not this year, maybe next. i wish i could have met you guys. Hannah and i looked around before it began but didn't see any blinking lights.

I am so proud of you. You are awesome. I know it may not have been exactly what you wanted...however I think you are pretty amazing.

I think someone else is pretty proud of you, and to think he got the perfect seat in the house.

Kelly,
Meeting you was truly a highlight of the weekend. Find a HALF marathon in Oregon and I'll come up and run it with you guys.

I said HALF... did you catch that? I'm kinda done with the full for a while! ; )

Nice Job everyone...I woke up at 4 am alaska time and thought, it's about time for everyone who's running SLC to be getting ready for everything...I said a little prayer for everyone and promptly went back to sleep!

BUT..just so you know...Mayors Marathon here in Alaska is a boston qualifier...hint hint...

Wish I could have met everyone in SLC..but glad there will be another time...Nice work everyone!

I felt like a million bucks when I got to see you by the finish line. You have the cutest smile!!! I am amazed at your dedication in training. Congrats on a PR!!! I wish all the factors would have clicked into place that day....

It made my day to see you and Suzie run together. You two are rock stars in my eyes.

Thank you for starting this wonderful network of awesome ladies and making this marathon so special for so many. I can't thank you enough!

Congratulations on the PR, Kelly! I was thinking about you all morning Saturday as I ran my paltry 3.7 miles. And all week I've been cranking up the treadmill to run 8:40s just to see what running as you might be like. It's exhausting. And leaves me sore. Kudos to you! I know you'll get your BQ soon. It's very exciting to see how much your marathon times have improved since the first one. It inspires me to run and shoot for the start, too! Sorry it wasn't the race you wanted, but still pretty awesome to get a PR!! Congratulations!!!

Ugh. No, not shoot for the STARTS. I meant shoot for the moon. The MOON.

Did you see Sarah (Marinara) and I lose our minds as we cheered for you and Sarah (Suzie) from the top of that bridge? I was so excited for you guys...even though I knew it wasn't exactly what you had hoped for. You two have done so much to inspire the Marathon Mommies. I just don't think I can express how wonderful I think you are.

It was a JOY meeting you on Friday. I'm looking forward to the next get-together. :)
