Unwelcome visitor

On Saturday night I retired to my hotel room to find an unwelcome visit from Aunt Flo. Now what do? She will be visiting in full force for marathon monday. I need any advice from anyone that has had to deal with running a marathon while on your period.

Aunt Flo was with me for SLC Marathon yesterday. Sweet.

Ok, prepare for grossness: I used a super tampon, and packed another in my belt just in case, but didn't even need it. I think your body just can't exude the energy it takes to release anything else.

Darn it! I had AF for my half. It was the 2nd day which is my heaviest, so it was just fun. I used a super as well, and than put some in my jacket pocket. One thing I noticed is that I crampped up in my lower legs a lot more. I think that you dehydrate a lot quicker when you lose just as much as you put in. I would recommend taking an ib or something before to maybe help with the cramps.
You just seem to have everything against you right now. You can do this. I also made sure that I drank a ton of water the day before.

Good luck, I am praying for you.

Oh Man! I too have ran a half with good old AF and man it wasn't fun. The super and some ibuprofen and lots of water today. I found it a little tougher, it was on my heavy flo day to...but I still accomplished my PR at that race and so I think if you keep the positive self talk going on in your head YOU CAN DO IT! Best of luck, hope it goes great for you and get a great rest tonight! Keep Moving Forward!

I know you were a little worried about this before. This may sound weird and gross, but a friend in high school would wear two at a time during our basketball and volleyball games. She said it worked great! Good luck. As I'm writing this I'm realizing you're probably getting ready for bed. I'll be thinking of you and Heather all day tomorrow until I hear from you.

I feel pretty lucky that I haven't had to deal with that during a marathon. I'm so sorry that you are! What a bummer, but I'm sure you'll still do great and have a wonderful experience. It's Boston, baby!

I can't wait to hear how the race went today! I've been thinking about you all day.

Sorry about Flo. That totally stinks.
