Hi Ladies! Happy mother's day! Just a quick question. Does anyone ever feel hungry on long runs. Not tired or weak but I could eat a cheeseburger hungry. On the last few long runs I have found myself with a hungry, growling stomach. I eat a light breakfast before but I'm just wondering if anyone ever brings snacks along. If so what are some suggestions? My husband was teasing me that I need to pack a little baggy of goldfish and raisins.
P.S. I'm running the Ogden half this Saturday the 17th. Anyone going to be there?

We at WRFDJ hide snacks and drinks along our path. The most popular selections are apples, oranges, and bananas. It really does make a difference. Hope this helps!
I bought a good old fashion fanny pack from Walmart and I load it up with gummy bears, fruit roll-ups and all other kind of goodies that I can't justify for any other reason. It helps a LOT. The trick is to pop a handful in your mouth at scheduled intervals. Like if you are doing a 6 mile run, at mile 3, if it's an 8, at mile 4, 10? at mile 4 and 8. That way you don't get hungry in the first place. I was always afraid of stashing stuff along my path. I liked to keep it with me.
I felt the same way on Saturday during my long run. I was wait out in the middle of nowhere, and I hadn't brought anything with me... just my debit card. Did me little good on those back roads... But caring a card and buying a snack isn't a bad idea if you're running near civilization!
Hello!
I never leave home on a long run without some kind of snack... whether it be a blueberry bagel broken up in pieces, gummy bears, bananas, granola bars or energy gels. I'll just pop a bite or two every couple of miles and they definitely keep the hunger pains at bay, even on the longest of training runs.
I'll be running the full marathon this Saturday in Ogden. Looks like it will be a glorious day! Good luck to you!
I do gels and I like to suck on mints and chew gum and when I am on longer runs I will have a little snack too!
I am doing the marathon relay this weekend! Good Luck! So glad you joined us!
i am always hungry on long runs but have never figured out what to do about it. thanks for all the advice!
When I did long runs, I remember always stopping to get something to eat or bringing something to eat or drink- when you run long like that, I think it is very normal that you get very hungry! Your body needs energy when you are going going going!
I will be at Ogden. It will be my 1st Half.

You can look up the running world magazine on the internet and they have some great tips on performance/energy foods! Eating a little snack makes a big difference for me!
Happy Running!
