Reason For Running

Hello Marathon Mommies!! I have been lurking on the site for about 7 or 8 weeks now and I just LOVE this blog. I love it so much that I just HAD to be a part of it.

I am currently training for my FIRST marathon with my husband, Jeff, and we are going to be running Chicago in October. We are training with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team in Training and are raising money for this cause. We have had two close people in our lives die in the past couple years from blood cancers, one being my dad, so we thought this would be a great cause to run for. I have always enjoyed running, but have NEVER officially ran a race- - -unless you count high school cross country. So this should be interesting.

Training is going ok- - -I have a few issues to deal with, but my goal is just to cross that finish line and come as close as possible to reaching our $7,400.00 goal for LLS.

If you would like to visit our personal training blog, you can visit us at Reason For Running or if you would like to see our Team in Training donation website, you can click HERE.

I appreciate all of the moms out there who manage to fit running schedules into their busy lives. I think you ALL are amazing and great encouragement to me.

Welcome to Marathon Mommies. I am excited to hear more about your journey. When I first decided to run a marathon I looked into Team in Training because it is such an awesome cause. I ended up not doing it because I was nervous to ask people for money. I wish I would have done it now. I will definitely look into it again. I think you have a beautiful reason to run and do it for LLS. How great to be training with your hubby.
I have been reading through your tributes to your father and I have been so touched. You are doing a wonderful job keeping his memory alive. I lost my father in November and it has been such a difficult time for me. I have shared some of my thoughts on my personal blog and even on this blog. My dad was close to the same age as yours- he was 56. I think you are passing on his legacy well. I look forward to getting to know you better. Thanks for sharing your feelings with us!

Team in Training is so close to my heart. I will always (ALWAYS) be so grateful that my first ever event was with TnT. Not only did I participate in something that was bigger than me, I learned so much about myself and what I can do. I think the best part was that I was doing it for my honorees and "accidentally" did the most amazing thing for myself.

I'm so excited for you. Way to go!!

Welcome Marci!! Good luck with your training- and I am so glad you are doing it for LLS/ TnT. Your blog/ tribute to your dad is beautiful, I enjoyed reading it. My father died of a blood cancer (Multiple Myeloma) in July of 2000.
Can't wait to hear more about your training!
