Best Dam Run Race Report

This is going to be quick, since the race is pretty much a blur in my mind. Wow. 6.2 miles is nothing after 26.2. It's amazing how you develop such a tolerance for distance. I got my kids and husband out of bed at 6am to hit the road for the drive to Estacada, Oregon, for the race. Why drive 115 miles to run a 10K? To meet some fellow Marathon Mommies, of course! It was fun to meet M&M, Suzie Petunia, Sticky Niki, Fox on the Run, and Mindy. I hope I didn't miss anyone! We rode the bus up to the start together and then had to wait a bit. The race started without anyone around me realizing it, so we were a bit behind at the start. Luckily the crowd thinned out quickly and I settled into my pace. M&M, her husband, and Suzie were in front of me for a bit, but I lost sight of them after a while. That was okay, though, because I knew I'd be running alone. I did something I really liked. I set my Garmin for distance and time, and then followed my pace throughout the race. I couldn't see the minutes tick by, I could only see my pace and the mileage counting down. I think it really worked for me. I knew if I kept my pace above what it read, I would meet my goal. My goal was to run under 54 minutes. According to my Garmin I finished in 52:56. The time at the finish line read about 53:30, but I was way off at the start. Anyway, it was a fun little race (beautiful weather and scenery), and it was great to meet some running friends! I've really missed mine since moving from Michigan to Oregon. Wish I lived closer to some of these great Mommies. Here are a few pictures of our race day.

It was so much fun meeting you, Amy! You are exactly how you seem. :-) The race was just as beautiful as I remember it and I loved sharing the race with so many others! I am glad you were able to PR. You looked great in the skirt!

I will have my race report soon. I have to clean my house first.

PS
Thanks for the yummy pears! Now I want some more! I hope you enjoyed the rest of your day.

I am so bummed that I didn't get a chance to meet all of you there. I ran with a girl friend and we headed out pretty quick after finishing. I hope to meet all of you Pacific Northwest girls soon. What 1/2 marathon is going on the end of Nov? I would love to know as I would like to try out that distance.

There is a 5K, 10K, and half marathon in Eugene on Saturday, Nov. 22nd. I am going to start training and see how my little nagging injuries do. Sorry we didn't meet you either!

I LOVE meeting other Marathon Mommies! It was so great to meet you, Amy! I just came across that race on November 22. It would be fun to do, we'll have to keep it in mind. I'm not sure what is going on that week exactly. But it would be fun if I could swing it!

amy, do you know that name of that race? I have been all over the internet and can't find it.

It is at www.eweb.org and it's called Run to Stay Warm. It's sponsored by the local electric company. Here's the link to the page on the site.

I will be doing one of the races, but I'm not sure which one!
