sweet deal on the Garmin Forerunner 305

Hey ladies. Just wanted to share a sweet deal that I found. I have been wanting a Garmin Forerunner forever and was planning on asking my hubby to buy one for me as a combo birthday/Christmas present. (I cannot wait to ditch my Nike+ system!) I had been reading online review after review trying to decide between the new 405 or the older 305. The 405 looks sleek and more watch like, but lots of reviewers have problems out of the slide bezel feature. The 305 is bulkier, but seems to be sturdy and reliable. Finally, I decided that the 305 was the one for me and I found the sweetest deal on it from Costco. It's $159.99 ($199.99-$40) while supplies last. I have a feeling that at this price they might go quick. If anybody has the 305, or the 405 for that matter, tell us what you love/hate about it.

that is a great deal- lowest that I have seen at Costco. My husband really wants a Garmin 305- he did his research too and he decided on the 305. We have never used either Garmin however. My husband has seen the 305 as low as $140 at Buy.com but you really have to watch for it.

Good luck in your decision!

I have a 305 that my husband got me through Costco last year for Christmas... and I LOVE it... I haven't tried the 405 but I have heard it is a little tricky to use on the fly.... but it has some features I am dying to try out... But my 305 is a perfect fit for me :)

My hubby gave me the 305 about a year ago and I LOVE IT. It is accurate and very easy to use. I love watching what pace I am running at, it can be addicting :) The only negative is the size but I am used to it. The computer program it came with is very helpful in tracking your progress, etc. I would HIGHLY recommend it. :)

I have a 305 and my husband has a 405. I love mine and he loves his. I use mine for running, and he uses his for cycling. He bikes to work every day, and he wears his 405 as a watch--so he's glad that it is relatively small. I only wear mine when I'm running, and I actually prefer the bigger display because it is easier to see.

I also have a 305 that I found on a great deal through Amazon($140)earlier this year. I love it. I can't imagine running without it.
I do like that the 405 is smaller and more watch like but if you just want one for running the 305 is a great.

That is a sweet deal! I have the 405. It is bulky as well. I got it early, as soon as it came out and I didn't realize they had a female version that is a bit smaller. The bezzel is awsome IF your fingers are not wet with sweat...i have had a few issues with it and it has taken a while to figure out how to keep it from reseting during a workout. there are so many features that I don't use or even know how to use but the ones I do use are great. One thing I don't like it that if I set it for say a 15 mile run it will count down backwards. so at a quick glance you see 8 miles on the screen, that is 8 miles left not 8 miles ran. so when you want to think about your time you have to do some calculations. Overall I love. when I first got it i would go out to run just so I could use it. The website that goes with the 405 is great too. There are just too any features, I could write on and on about it!

the 405 is tricky to use quickly. You have to set the workout beforehand and if for some reason you need to change a setting it is pretty hard to do while moving (meaning you may have to stop running to set what you want).

I think you will be happy with the 305 also. Do you know what the main differences are?

Got it for Christmas last year from Costco. Missed the rebate, though, so we paid about $190. I LOVE it and use it religiously. But I haven't even started using the HR monitor. I should, though. I will!

Ooh, that's a great deal! I have the 205, which is just the 305 without the heart rate monitor. I LOVE it. Actually, I think I am addicted to it. Never run without it. :) My mom has the 405 and likes it, but she said when she runs in the rain the raindrops hit the screen and outer part (I don't know what you call it) and it changes everything! She was really disappointed that the touch-screen feature was messed up by the rain.

I have the 305, it's feels a little bulky but after I start running, I don't give it a second thougt. I enjoy that at a glance I know my speed, mileage and time.
