Jacksonville Bank marathon & half marathon

Yesterday was the Jacksonville Bank marathon and half marathon. We had sunny weather, about 65 at the 7am start and well into the 70 degree range at the finish. A little on the warm side for distance running you could say. After not running for almost 3 weeks I didn't have the expectation that I would have a really excellent time. It wasn't even a month ago that I had a laser procedure on both my legs that left me barely able to walk for weeks, sore and very very bruised. I hadn't trained for this race really at all. By that I mean I hadn't run a distance further than 6 miles since October. I drank water and gatorade at every water station and I took a GU at miles 5.5 and 10 (discovering that my 2 new fav's are strawberry banana and triberry). My goal was 13.1 miles in under 2.5 hours, and I accomplished that goal, finishing with an official chip time of 2:28:59. The race ended in the stadium on the track of a nearby private school. As you entered the stadium to finish they announced your name on the loud speaker for everybody to hear, that was pretty neat. It was so amazing to have Chris and Owen (my husband and son) at the finish line cheering me on and taking my picture.

Way to go! 70 degrees huh? Sound like a great day to run! Isn't that the best feeling. . .crossing that finish line?

Good job making your goal. That is a little warm but great if you consider it's a winter race! How cute for your husband and son to be there supporting you. (By the way I love the name Owen) Congratulations!
