Happy New Year!

I always love the fresh start of a new year. And of course, there is no better way to start the year than with a run. Last year I ran a midnight 5k with good friends, but this year I wasn't able to. So, this morning I went for a nice 4 mile run by myself. The weather was crisp and cool and I love seeing the snow on the mountains. My focus for this year is "diligence" and running fits right into that. It is the small, consistent efforts that make and keep you a runner. It is not giving up after you have had a bad run or a bad race. It is recognizing the progress you have made. It is enjoying each run for itself and what it gives you. I look forward to another year of running, and especially another year of running with friends. This Christmas break I haven't been able to run much, but I have enjoyed a couple of runs with my husband and a great run with my sister in law Kristyn (0ne of our Mommies!). I was also able to make a new friend out on a run who will be joining us also(Welcome Stephanie!). This year, let's support each other in our goals and in our struggles. That's what this blog is for. Thanks for all of your participation! Please tell us about your run today (or last night!) and your goals for the year. Let's make 2009 a great year!

My goals for 2009:
1. Run at least 4 days a week.
2. Stay balanced by strength training, stretching and eating healthy. (Maybe try Yoga!)
3. Work hard!
4. Qualify for Boston. :-)

PS
I look forward to running with my running buddies on Saturday. It has been too long!

Kelly,

My running goals are quite similar...I'm considering St. George to qualify for Boston this year.

Rock on, sista. Can't wait for the Wasatch Back in June. It will be the event to remember... I'm sure of it.

Love to all the marathon mommies. I can remember the days when it was Sarah, you, me and Cherl.... {{Insert craggly granny voice on that last part}}

Happy New Year to all!

And yes, you should add yoga.

Just do it. : )

Um...I sort of turned to Alonso just as the we entered the new year and "announced" that this was the year I would run a marathon.

Hold me. ;)

I've yet to run today, but I plan on it. My legs are aching from all the sitting around. Glad you got a run in. I sure hope you make your Boston goal. I'll be cheering you on! Here's to meeting for more races in 2009.

I biked for two hours yesterday on my new trainer that I got for Christmas. I'm spent. My quads were screaming at me all day. How is that for a start to the new year.

What a great post! My running goals are also similar. I ran a midnight 5k last year as well, but this year opted for bowling. Not nearly as cool. Have I mentioned how awesome you are lately? Your posts always make me excited for a run:)
