So, I've Got a Question

I am a creature of habit. Especially about certain things in my life.

I do believe that my running shoes fit into that "certain things" category. I like what I like. I'm used to what I'm used to.

When I got to being serious about the running, I went to my local Fleet Feet store and got myself fitted for the right shoe for me. And I kept going back for this wonderful shoe because it worked for me. It worked well.

Fast forward a couple of years when the beloved shoe company (who shall remain nameless*) changed the design of my beloved shoe and the upgrade of said shoe is not the same at all and my beloved shoe is no more.

Here's my dilema and my question: I returned to Fleet Feet with my issues and we got me set up with a new brand of shoe. I'm having a hard time getting used to my new shoes, but this morning's run went MUCH better than a few weeks ago. I was told that getting used to one kind of shoe is not the best idea. Of course, I found this out about a month ago. Have any of you had the same issue? Does everyone vary the brand/model of shoe?

It just so happens that I found a pair of the 'old' style of shoe that I loved on the internet (Bless you, Amazon) and I bought it. I've been alternating between the two pairs of shoes. But oh my stars, I love the 'old' school shoes...my feet love them even more.

I'm frustrated...and just want to love the shoes equally. Am I hoping for a miracle?

*Starts with an "A"

I have had the same problem with the shoe that I love (also starts with a A). I was so excited when I found two pair of them over the internet before Christmas...so I'm good for a little while, but I admit that I am hesitant to try another shoe-I would like to hear others advice too.

I've also had this problem(my brand starts with M). This is such a frustrating issue and I developed chronic shin splints due to my inability to find that perfect shoe again.

Yes!! My shins and and feet are not loving the new shoes!

Cal, I wonder if we're buying up the same shoes. That would be really funny.

I also have issue with running in the same shoe/brand...mine too start with an A. I've been frustrated with my running this year because my shoes REALLY need to be changed, and like you, I have searched everywhere for "my shoe." I still haven't found it, and haven't been able to make the leap to another shoe either...pathetic....

If 2130 is anywhere in the model number of your guys' shoes, I'm going to laugh.

How did you ever guess???

I too am addicted to 2130. (Hello, my name is Stephanie and I'm addicted to Asics) I've ran in a pair of 2130s for 6 years now. This year I am unhappy with the shoe. It cuts into my ankle and my feet are not loving them. I figure I will have to try out a new shoe, maybe try a different brand or something. Blehh!
My only advice is to find a shoe that you don't have to get used to. It should feel awesome right from the get go. None of this "breaking them in" stuff. (I bought my current pair without even trying them on, I was so used to just getting what I wanted from the shoe)

That's the problem...I'm having trouble finding a shoe that's awesome. The "improvements" on the 2130 (now 2140s) are craptastic. Uh...in my humble opinion. I've been wearing Saucony, which is fine...it's just not what I'm used to or what I really want, if I'm being so honest.

Seriously. Can we start a campaign? A "bring back the 2130's" club? Anything?

I think that we should...There are at least a couple of us out there that are addicted to them...they should keep making them!

My name is Robyn, and my shoe does not begin with A. It begins with M. I could write a 2 page saga about this issue. I have always worn M's and loved them. But, I got bad advice and tried a different model than I was used to and I have had all kinds of problems since then. I totally agree that you should not have to 'get used' to the shoe. It should feel good on your foot. Stick with what works!!

I am sorry for all of you A2130 lovers- there is an article in RW this month about this very issue. Good luck finding the right shoe!
