I finally completed my half marathon that I planned to do on Jan 1st. This is another of what I call a "solitude marathon", since I run it alone and not at a organized race. I got nine miles or so into the half on the first and had tummy trouble. I ended up having to quit with only 2 miles left to go :(
so... I had a redo on Jan 16th. I made sure I was rested and ate well the day before so i wouldnt have tummy troubles :)
I was thrilled that I ran the majority of the distance !! and I set a new PR... beating my old PR by 25 mins.... finishing in 2 hours 2 mins. I really really wanted to finish in under 2 hours but just could pull myself through it. IF I had been at a race, had a crowd or a partner I know I could have made it. Here is a post on my personal blog if you care to read :)
I am wondering if any of you have found new PRs after drastically reducing your sugar intake? I have gone to pretty much no sugar for the last month and I am finding the fat is melting away and my running is just improving by leaps and bounds.
I am also very excited I have a group of women (about 25) who I am helping train for a half marathon in March. Some will do their half on March 13th here in our own mini solitude race.. and some will travel to the Dallas Rock and Roll on March 14th. Of the 25 only 1 has ever completed a half.
Anyone else doing the Rock and Roll in Dallas?
