EARLY morning runs, and reasons to run

Hi All..

well.. I have totally got CRAZY!
Yep... I am now officially in the category of gettin up well before the sun to RUN.

Today... up at 415am with NO alarm!

uhhuh .. crazy.

I am training for my own half on July 4th.... so this morning was a 6 miler for me... I am doing a "quick" training program on my own..... and figured out the only way I will be able to get any runs in .... is by getting up at the crack of dawn....

I am excited to share one of the ladies I am helping train for a half marathon to be completed on July 3rd finished her first ever 11 miler this morning.... she is raising awareness and funds... for Rescue Her... a organization that tries to educate public about Human Trafficking.

Please check her blog out ....

OH.. and she had HIP surgery last fall...

she. is. amazing. :)

I have a question. I just found out I was pregnant with my 3rd and it was a big surprise. My plan was wo run a full marathon at the end of this summer. I haven
t been running a ton but I do go but I teach apin 3-4 times a week and I teach bootcamp so I have been waiting for the weather to get better so I can train. I live in Seattle just moved here a year ago from San Diego and I was wondering if you think I could still train and do the marathon? I kind of have written it off but I came across your blog and I thnk you said you did run one when you were pregnant. I have ony run a half marathon last year and I have done triathlons but never a full so if you don't mind letting me your input that would be awesome.
thanks

Hey Rae Lynn,
I did not do my marathon when I was expecting but someone else here may have :) Lots of great info here in this blog and great ladies...

as trainer I would suggest of course get cleared with your dr.... and dont be afraid to embrace walking if need be :) A full marathon is hard on the body and I would expect being prego might complicate matters and make it more difficult to get proper nutrition and etc.........

I can't wait o hear what others say :)

Rae Lyn, I have a friend who did run a marathon while about 12 weeks pregnant. She did the Top of Utah. It took them nearly 6 hours (potty breaks, eating, not pushing it, etc.) She was able to stay hydrated and nourished the entire time. She and the baby were both fine afterwards. She said that since she was already in good shape and had been training for the race that she felt okay about the marathon. I think it's a personal decision and you know your body as well as anyone.

Rae Lynn, I only ever did a half marathon while pregnant (12wks) so don't really know for the full, but my doctor felt that because I'd been a runner before I got pregnant, that I knew my body well enough to know the difference between runner's pain and bad-pregnancy pain. His instructions to me were to do what I felt comfortable with, but to pay more attention, to not push through everything, and to be prepared to walk if I had to. I was lucky that it all went well but his instructions worked for me to remind me not to push like I used to. Good luck!
