I just had my third baby 7 weeks ago. Even though I have run with babies before I have always waited until they are 6 months, like recommended. This time I am itching to get out NOW. Has anyone tried running with an infant , in a jogging stroller of course, and if so, how do you make sure that it is safe for the baby? Do you use a special type of stroller or any attachments, accessories, etc?
Thanks!
Sarai

you should have a special attachement that lets you put the car seat in the jogging stroller, it will face you....
I have a 3 month old that I've been running with for a few weeks now. If your stroller has an infant seat attachment, then you are good to go. Many strollers have the capability of attaching an infant seat. I have an Instep that locks the seat in place and includes a strap that secures the seat even more. My baby's seat faces me during a run so I can see her the whole time. She mostly sleeps while I run. From what I've read, these types of strollers recommend your baby be between 6-8 weeks old. I say go for it. No way I could've waited 6 months to run!
All babies are different but I would err on the side of extreme caution. I don't trust the infant seats to keep them totally safe.
Hi Sarai! I just wanted to say congrats on baby #3! I hope everything is going well. I think you should use your running time as time to yourself and let a good friend or neighbor watch your baby while you run. :-) Good luck! I am a wimp when it comes to running with a stroller, so I don't have any other advice. Sorry.
Thanks all! I will look into all of those options. Thanks Kelli! I agree and I will as soon as I am getting good sleep and baby's sleeping through the night ;) There are good things about taking your baby with you and good things about going without them. Right now taking him with me would work best.
Keep on running!
I ran with both of my girls at 5 weeks old in a jogging stroller and everything was a-ok. In fact, now they both love it when we go running together (they are 3 and 1). Like you, I have to bring them or else I can't get runs in. Plus, it's great training!! Pushing a giant stroller, all the kid gear, AND 70 lbs worth of kids can get you ready for any race. :)
