Aloha!

Taylor and I went running around the Laie Temple, BYU Hawaii campus and the Polynesian Cultural Center on Saturday before the wedding. A nice little run - probably 4 miles. So breezy and nice, but the air is heavy and thick with moisture. There aren't many places to run in the area immediately surrounding our beach house. The shore line is too narrow and wet and the one main road where I could get some decent mileage is busy and narrow. Oh, the sacrifices I am making to be in Hawaii!

On Monday Taylor and I ran maybe 2 and a half miles on a paved trail at an Audubon Bird preserve - hilly and quick. At the end of a trail was a waterfall and pool of water people are usually allowed to swim in, but we had torential rain the day before and it was too swift and brown for swimming. I was sad about that - I've always wanted to swim in a cool Hawaiin pool under a waterfall. We also went snorkeling for a couple hours yesterday which worked a lot of muscles I didn't know I had. Let's call it a cross-training workout. I had never been snorkeling and it was amazing! I always thought I would be too skittish to swim with fishies, but it wasn't scary - just serene and beautiful!

Thank you so much, M & M for helping make this adventure possible for us! We're having a great time (except for the bout of food poisening I got the morning after my brother's wedding reception ... bad sushi? I missed church, but I felt better soon enough.) Hope you're getting some good running in.

We also visited the USS Arizona memorial at Pearl Harbor and The Punchbowl cemetary where thousands of servicemen who served in the Pacific are interred. What an amazing experience!
