Ran 9, Ran 9 and feelin' fine!

Nine is not 13, which is the length of the Provo 1/2 on the 11th. But I'm getting closer and relatively pain free in the hippy hip-- so I'll celebrate today!

This morning I went to 5:45 a.m. yoga class. Before class I talked to the instructor (who is a runner himself) about the right hip pain. He did all kind of hip opening stretches in our class. It was amazing! I zoomed home, threw my running shoes on and went for a nine miler. I'm home now and feel SO happy and SO good. I have hope that I might be okay for the race.

Hooray for yoga! Hooray for running! Hooray for our blog where I can share this small victory!

M&M are you surviving without your running partner? And Cherl, what's your next race? Are you thinking 1/2 or full? I'm starting to think that I might stick with 1/2 marathons for the next chapter of my life. I'm enjoying the way that it fits into my life (as in, my life feels balanced whereas it can feel like running is taking over when I'm training for a full marathon). Who knows....

I think all three of you are amazing to even be out throwing the miles down so soon after having your babies. In my opinion, all three of you rock.

Awesome job on the 9!! I am glad you are feeling better. You will do great in the half. I wish I was there.

My training is going alright. Some days better than others. I will post about my run on Saturday tonight. I miss Sarah lots.

Great job, Chelle! Isn't it amazing what yoga can do?

I miss you, too, M&M!

Fantastic job, Chelle! I love that the 9 miles wasn't even in the plans. You just felt like it and went for it. That's awesome.

I once ran 5 miles and then went to a Bikram yoga class. I thought I was going to die.

I have my eye on a half marathon in mid-October. I've mapped out my training runs in order to ensure I survive both the distance and the route it takes, but I haven't signed up yet. I really want to get a PR if I do it (my goal would be under 1:50) so I'm waiting another 4 to 6 weeks to see where I'm at.

Chelle and Suzie -
Besides finishing strong, having a great time, blah, blah, blah... what are your goals for the Provo Half?

Okay, comment #3...

I also have my eye on the Eugene Marathon (Ore.) in late April. I've mapped out a training plan that doesn't begin until January. My plan is to seriously up my mileage and pace between now and the time training commences. My goal for this would also be to get a PR. Ideally, to go under 4 hours but realistically? Probably a 4:15 or 4:20.

Kinda spooky how all of our running times/goals are so similar. My PR for the half is 1:49.

My PR for the full marathon is 4:15, although I was going for a sub four. It all fell apart at mile 13. To be honest, I'm still recovering from the disappointment of not reaching that goal. I was SO SURE that I was going to kill it. And it didn't happen. It just felt like so much training and work to not reach the intended goal. My husband had to practically shake me and say "You just ran a marathon in 4:15..... CELEBRATE!" So weird how that works. I couldn't put it in perspective.

If I was running injury free, then I would say that my goal would be to beat 1:49 (for a new PR), but under the circumstances, this might just have to be a run for the sake of running and getting the t-shirt and pancake breakfast at the end. yum. I really don't want to push it and do damage to this darn right hip.
