Acupuncture anyone?

So, I met with the pulmonologist on Wednesday and I was not impressed. He told me to take Pulmocort(sp?) and was kind of rushing me out. I reminded him that he had told me before it wasn't a good idea when breastfeeding and he responded, "I think it's okay." Well, that was no reassurance to this marathon mommy. :-) So, when I was running with a friend, Polly, she asked if I had thought about acupuncture. Now, if you know me at all, I was a microbiology major and one of the most left-brained people you have ever met. Everything is about numbers and logic in my head. So, obviously I had never considered acupuncture. Well, at this point I was willing to try anything, as long as it wouldn't hurt my baby boy. So, I went in on Friday morning. I will admit I was terrified. I have never liked needles(who does?) and it was the first time I have done anything without researching it to boredom first. Well, it was amazing!! It was truly the most relaxing thing I have ever done. Even if it does nothing for my asthma, it is worth $15 a session just for the peace and quiet for an hour.

So, today I went for a 12 mile run and it was fantastic. No sign of asthma and no music either. Marnie was kind enough to run with me for 9 miles of it and I ran the last 3 by myself. It was awesome!

What do you think? Coincidence with the acupuncture...? I am willing to find out! How were everyone else's runs? (By the way, Sarah I averaged 10:19 for these 12 miles, so I am getting closer! One day we will run together again...boo hoo hoo)

I'm pretty impressed with all the miles you are logging! Good grief. Your new baby arrived AFTER mine and I'm nowhere near where you are.

Acupuncture? Yikes!

I am impressed that you just jumped into it without thinking about it too much -- why is that impressive? I'm not sure. I guess that is how I tend to make decisions! And I am THRILLED that it seems to have worked! Can accupuncture cure RLS? :) Obviously MY western doctor cannot (that is funny because she is actually asian!) and I'm ready to try something new. But, you know, if it is relaxation you want to pay for... you can also pay people to give you a nice, relaxing massage - no needles required!

I'm about to go jump on my parents' treadmill. There wasn't a moment today that I could get away to run... especially 12 miles. I'm about to run 12 miles on a TREADMILL (aka a runner's torture device). Does anyone wanna place bets as to whether I'll actually go the entire distance? St. George or BUST!

I DID IT! 12 miles on a treadmill! That's gotta be some kind of record. P.S. I'm super tired now.
