Hello ladies!
My fridge is almost completely empty and I am determined to fill it with healthy food. Please give me ideas of healthy eating for kids and for me and Jeff. I need all the help I can get. I am going grocery shopping tonight. Wish me luck!

This is timely as I just received "Lunch Lessons: Changing the way we feed our children" in the mail today. Revamping our family's diet has been on my mind a lot lately. I've been trying to prepare more meals at home and also simply BETTER meals at home - more fresh vegetables & fruit, less meat, less processed, prepackaged foods and trying to avoid foods like rice, pasta, cereal, etc. While grocery shopping, I make better choices if I have a shopping list and actually prepare menus ahead of time. I also focus my shopping at the perimeter.
Good luck and let us in on any special tricks you come up with!
I would be a complete poser if I answered this. You know what I like about you guys? We are all thinking about the same things! Just this last weekend I resolved to change the way I pack my kids lunches. It was actually pretty funny though, I packed some dried apples and my kids said they tasted like foamy plastic. Goody! I'm sure they'll be begging for those in the future. I did buy little tupperware cases to send carrots, snap peas with some ranch to dip them. They always go for that!
Good luck. Let us know if you have any nutrition breakthroughs!
My mom and I just discovered such a yummy snack at Costco. I'm excited to get home and buy some (I only hope they have them there!) They are snack packs of freeze-dried apples (10) and freeze-dried bananas and strawberries (10). The apples are delicious and the others are pretty good. My super picky little one munched down three bags (such gluttony is only acceptable when my mom pays for the box!) :) We found them by the candy bars, nuts, granola bars--you know, the general snacking area.
I know, still not as good as fresh, but a good munching alternative to crackers or chips. I'm more of a "lesser of two evils" when it comes to food choices.
