Are the 'Mommies' Representing at the Salt Lake Marathon '08?

I'm putting out the call. For some reason, I am under the impression (illusion) that many of you have connections to Utah. Why not plan a visit for the weekend of April 17th (08) and we'll represent at the Salt Lake Marathon? I've run it twice and I can tell you with much confidence that this is a great marathon course. Especially because they moved the time from June back to April (where it belongs) and you have beautiful spring weather instead of warmer weather. I'm a complete wimp when it comes to running in the heat. I fold.

And here comes the selfish full disclosure: I need to run a sub-four marathon. I'm sure that most of you know what I mean by need. That is the much desired goal. My P.R. to date is 4:12. I've just got to get my time down in the 3's. Can anyone relate?

Come to Salt Lake, and we'll give it our best shot. Or, on the other hand, if you've already reached my much-coveted goal (yes SuzieP and M&M, I'm a talkin' to you)..... come to Salt Lake and be my pace coach. ha ha

Whatever your time goal.... COME TO ZION! : )

First things first:
What's a sub-four marathon. :)

Love,
The Newbie

p.s. that's five months away...and that's also a FULL marathon. (*JP runs and hides in a corner*)

p.p.s Yes, I do have 'tah connections.

Salt Lake was my first half marathon this last year. It is hands down my favorite race so far. I am totally in for the half - perhaps the full if we have a winter unlike last (-30 degrees is not unusual here). The thought of running 20 miles on the treadmill reminds me of Suzie's comic about sticking knives in your eyes...

If everyone jumps in - I'm in too.

Team Hanni,

If you do the full, I will too. I can't even believe I just wrote that!

Team Hanni and I are sisters-in-law in case you're wondering. :)

Hey Chelle,

I would LOVE to meet to do a marathon with all of you. And, unlike Suzie, I still have not had a sub-four either. (Mine was 4:06.) I was actually thinking more about Ogden on May 17th. Suzie and I ran it in 2006 and it is a beautiful course with lots of downhill. (Which will make for a speedier marathon, Chelle!) But, I am up for whatever works best for everyone. I just think it would be great to train virtually together!! Other suggestion- I am running Newport on May 31st with a friend of mine and it is her first.

JP- If you don't want to do the full marathon, come do the half!!

Ang- You rock!! I am so excited for you!

Team Hanni- I am with you on the treadmill hating. I hope you take Ang's challenge!!

(Sub-four is a marathon under 4 hours.) Keep the questions coming, that is why we are all here!

*chanting* JP! JP! JP! You KNOW you can do this! To all of you - I can't think of anything more wonderful than training virtually together and then actually getting together to run a marathon! It would be AWESOME! M&M and I had been kicking around the idea of doing Ogden which she mentioned is in May. If we all decided to do that one it would give us more training time in the spring vs. the coldest winter months. I LOVED the Ogden course. I've never run Salt Lake, so I can't comment on that one. This would be such fun!

Oooooooo, I can feel something good forming here!

I am open to doing Ogden. I've officially registered for Salt Lake already. It was one of the fundraiser auction items at my kids' school. Talk about a win/win. My winning bid was $60 and 100% of that went to my kids' school. And now I'm committed to the marathon, for better or worse.

Don't you think I should just go ahead and plan to do both? Don't you think I suffer from delusions of grandeur? ha!

I'm in for whichever has a "half" option. I'm still worried about being ready for a full in 5-6 months. Yowswers.

BUT...the point is that I'm totally in. And quite excited to "train" with some of my favorite Mommies. :)

**side note: my right knee is still being a bit tricky from the half...so that's where most of my nerves are coming from...

JP,
I am having right knee problems too ever since my half. What's going on with yours?

Chelle,

I have a plan for you. (Suzie is saying Uh Oh!) Get your sub-4 at Salt Lake as a "practice run" and then come qualify for Boston at Ogden with me and Suzie and whoever else wants to!

Am I dreaming or what?!! That would be my perfect world. :-)

I am so glad you are signed up Chelle.

Okay, I shouldn't be blogging, I am leaving for Cali in 5 hours!!

ang,
It almost feels like there is fluid under my knee...the swelling just doesn't seem to want to go away.

Yes, I know I should see a doctor...eventually.

You guys are making me so excited. But I have baby plans (that is NOT an announcement). Aw, heck, who wants another kid anyway? (that was sarcasm). Dang it!
