Hi. Let me introduce myself.
I got this awesome invitation to be a contributor to this blog and may I say a million thank yous. If I talk to much feel free to go back on the offer.
Here is me in 100 words or less...but probably more.
I have never been an athlete, I never played sports in high school or any other time in my life. I have always been a tad over weight. I have 3 little girls. I am in my mid 30's. I live outside of Washington D.C. but have lived in Tennessee, Louisiana, Utah, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wyoming, Montana and 18 years in New Mexico.
Thanks for letting me join in a great group of supportive women.

This year I picked one word for the year that would be my focus. The word was stretch. I wanted to do things that would really stretch me physically and emotionally. so one night in March I signed up online to run a marathon. At the time I could not run to my mailbox. I trained 90% of my training pushing my two girls in a double jogger in the heat of the summer, and 7 months later ran a marathon. It changed me. I didn't magically become skinny, but I lost a bunch of emotional baggage.me crying my eyes out after the race
One of my favorite quotes is"There is only one way to run but a hundred ways to be a runner"
I don't care about speed, when I finish or what I look like when I do. I loved running and having people cheer for me and high fiving the police men who stopped traffic during the race. I think I am the girl that people say "if she can run a marathon, than anyone can" and I am fine with that. I take photos of myself after each run and have loved documenting my progress. I practice crossing the finish line at least once a week on my runs. - I became a runner to stretch myself and it worked.encouraging words I wrote on my feet before my marathon in pink sharpie
It is one month since my race and even I am surprised that I am still running. I love how it makes me feel. I believe anyone can run. Thanks for letting me join in a great group of supportive women.

So excited to have you here! I just read your whole mile by mile report and I am crying. Seriously big fat tears. I am so inspired by your story. Loved the post and all the pictures! I am thinking maybe Salt Lake 2008 will be a good time for me to run my first marathon!
ang - hey it is a great time to run it! i am trying to figure out a way I can fly out there and do it too. If you are slow and want someone to laugh and take photos with in the back, i am your gal!
you can so do it!
just keep thinking "if kristi can do it, I can too!!!"
Welcome, Kristi! I was completely inspired by your story. Glad to have you with us and hope to hear from you often.

I'm crying. Your post needs to be published. Seriously, I am so glad you are posting here. I feel so lucky that I got to take a glimpse of your incredible journey. Your marathon experience is just amazing. Every step is inspiring. I can't wait to experience the FULL!
I loved every last word of this post. I'm inspired and excited that you will be hanging round these parts.... and coming to Salt Lake in 08?? (I hope so)
I clicked over to your blog and read your post about running songs. My i-pod is full of fresh new running songs, thanks to that post. My favorite this morning was "my doorbell" by the White Stripes.
Kristi... I very much look forward to hearing more from you as we shoot for another marathon!
WELCOME, KRISTI!
I love your "story". You are so inspiring! Your quote: "There is only one way to run but a hundred ways to be a runner" is what this blog is all about! We are so happy to have you. Will you be joining us in Utah for a marathon this spring?
TO ALL: I think we're leaning toward the Salt Lake marathon. Any major problems with that? (tough beans!)
Can I tell you how much I love your "feet encouragement"? Awesome!
You are just amazing...I'm so glad you're sharing your story.
I loved this entry. I haven't read your marathon account yet, but will soon! Glad to have you on board. :)
Kristi-
I read your marathon account -- amazing and wonderful!
Congratulations on a fine finish. I love that you choose a word to focus on during the year. I'm going to have to do that. I also love that you met a wonderful woman to run with. Runners are really friendly and inspiring people!
I love that you have an opportunity to spread your story and encourage others to run--one step at a time!
