Beat the Winter-Running-Blues Contest!

It seems many of us are having a very difficult time finding the proper motivation to get out and run in the colder winter weather. Never fear! The Marathon Mommies are here to help you! I am instituting the first-ever Marathon Mommy "Run-for-the-Bling" Contest! I have a little side-hobby of making jewelry, so... whoever runs the most days in a two-week period will receive a Suzie Petunia original - delivered right to your mailbox. The contest will begin today (no time to procrastinate!) December 1 and run (ha ha... a little running pun) until Saturday, December 15. Of course we'll be relying on the honor system here. I'll put a post up each day starting tomorrow, and everyone who has run that day will need to leave a comment letting us all know they got out and faced the winter weather. It doesn't matter how far you run. But if you don't leave a comment letting us know you ran that day then you won't get credit for that day. Got it? No comment = no credit for running that day. (Warning: All cheaters will be forced to run Heater Road near my house. Trust me... you DO NOT want to run Heater Road. I did it once...well, I walked most of it... and it was by mistake!! I was lost.) You're gonna love me for this. But you're going to love yourself even more for getting out and running!

Now, lace up your running shoes, set your alarm for an ungodly early hour, or strap those kiddos into the jogging stroller and LET'S RUN-FOR-THE-BLING!

(The prize will resemble one of the bracelets shown above.)

P.S. You do not have to be a contributor to enter this contest. But please, no crazies allowed.

So Suzie where were you this morning. That is off to a great start. But oh yeah you can make a bracelet anytime you want. Let me be the first to comment that yes I did get out this morning.

I had a great run this morning. Have any of you had those days when you get out and it feels so good you want to shout out loud. I love running even when I am slow!
Suzie, this is a really cute idea. Thanks for helping us get motivated. I found a friend who ran a half marathon at six months pregnant and gave me a lot of encouragment. So I am going to shoot for the Salt Lake Half.

I got out this morning for a BITTER but great run. Next Saturday is my 10 year Anniversary Rose Bowl Half with my cute hubby. Today was my "dress rehearsal" so to speak.

Thank you for helping us get out there to run.

What a GREAT idea. Count me in (although I got up to run this morning to find 4 inches of snow on the ground and it was flying all day here in Salt Lake)

This is so much fun! Great idea! I was looking forward to a long run outside today, but it was snowing like crazy! So I did 7.5 miles on the treadmill! (Uhgg, it was a struggle!) I did have to get out in the snow to get to my car and go to the gym. :) I was thinking about winning the bracelet while on the treadmill and then I realized I will be in Hawaii for six days next week. And while I love to pretend I will run like a crazy woman on the beach everyday, let's be honest, it may not happen! But I'm still going to post my runs while I'm in Washington, just in case. :)

Thanks for getting me to the gym today!

P.S. Does running on the treadmill count?

Thanks, Suzie. The challenge to put in the miles these next two weeks will help me get back on track. The proof? I didn't want to do it and didn't get to it until after 9:30pm, but I got a couple in! 2.25

Oops. When you run as low miles as I do, every little bit counts. Today - 2.30 miles, not 2.25. :)

When I am up for it, I will make a full post about my run today. I just wanted to post my 10.43 mile amazing run to the temple. There was snow lightly falling and the destination made it that much more incredible. A very contemplative run at a sad time.

PS
Jewelry by Suzie just plain rocks!

Hey, I ran Saturday too!! (Can I still get credit? I just barely saw the contest today.) I did a 7 miler on my treadmill and boy, was I proud. This is great fun. I was thinking we needed a way to at least report our mileage. Anything for motivation, right?
