Winter Running

What a wonderful December morning for running. 7:00 am a crisp cold morning. Had a great run and it felt great. At mile 4.5 I broke off from the others. (Had soccer games to go to) Running by myself with no music, no cars I really enjoyed the peaceful quiet. Just me and the sound of my feet and heavy breathing. There is something very tranquil about running with the bare trees with a few left over leaves on the ground. I think fall is my favorite time to run but winter comes in second. How about it? What is your favorite season to run in?

I'm not so sure about this winters stuff. I think early spring and early fall are the greatest to run in. I am anxious to see what winter running in California is like next week. This Idaho winter weather is tough!

I will have to say that there is something special about running in the winter. I love getting all bundled up and breathing that fresh air. I would much rather run in frigid cold weather than blistering hot. I think spring is my favorite but winter isn't so bad.

I am sorry I missed you guys this morning. Winter is definitely NOT my favorite time to run, but the snowfall today was pretty cool.

Hey, foxy - I recognize that place in the picture. Isn't that your favorite stretch to run? Why is that?

I have to admit that winter running is difficult for me. I wish it wasn't!

I am a winter running fan. I would say that other than the extra time it takes to bundle-- I love it. I am just sure that breathing in that crisp, fresh air is even healthier than spring or summer air. ; )

I am also amazed at how quickly I warm up. I usually end up peeling off the too-many layers that I dressed in.

I'm in Salt Lake and we had an amazing snow fall this weekend... which means amazing running. Once the streets are clear, it is truly like running through a winter wonderland. I LOVE it. It seems that the snow mutes the noise of the world, too. I can't imagine someone choosing a treadmill over that experience. After my run I stood in my backyard and the song 'Still, Still, Still' came to mind. Simply beautiful.

To summarize... I would rank the seasons for running like this: Fall, Winter, Spring and then Summer (I hate the heat. I am using the word hate here... and I mean it!).

Chelle you have described me to a tee. I wish we had snow to run in sometimes. To bad there wasn't snow there over Thanksgiving when I was in Utah. I would have loved running in it.

so I miss many things about Oregon, this is not one of them, however I love that stretch as well, and ran it the last time I was there.
