I kneed advice
OK so I need some advice on what people do when injuries just aren't getting better. My right knee has been bothering me for months. I take time off, it feels better initially but after a couple of weeks of running( and finally feeling like I'm back in my groove) it hurts again. Last Saturday started out well. I was going to do about 8 miles. With about a mile left my knee was hurting but not too bad. I came to a busy road (hwy99) and sprinted across because had a green light that was changing quickly. Well, that was not a good idea. I felt a sharp, kind of burning pain in my knee and could barely make it to the other side. I walked the last mile needless to say. So , my question is has anyone gone to a doctor with knee or other injuries and actually had it help? I feel like I need to do something different so I can start running more consistently but don't know of too many success stories with visiting a doctor. Any advice?

Poky,
I went to that chiropractor and I think he helped. I haven't had any knee pain since. And I was a sceptic.
Is your knee pain on the outside of your knee and is it a sharp shooting pain that will come and go???
New shoes?
I was just thinking of doing a similar post. I randomly hurt my foot while running last month. I have tried running again but it still hurts. So I have decided to take the rest of the month off and then start again Feb. 1. I have thought about going to the doctor and actually had an appointment with an orthopedic doctor but the day of the appointment my foot felt so much better so I cancelled because I didn't want to go there and feel silly if he said nothing was wrong. But the next day when I tried to run it hurt again. I hope this goes away!! How to get it go away though is a good question.
I had a problem similiar to the one you are describing. I went to a physcial therapist, he told me it was my patella tendon, but also that my hip, leg & knee were out of place. He gave me certain stretches to do and told me to not run as much. Unfortunately, I didn't see much improvement and wasn't able to run in the marathon I had been training for. Someone had mentioned to me about seeing a chiropractor. I started going at the start of this year and have actually been doing a lot better. It is not 100% but now I can actually run, where as before, I could maybe go a mile and have to stop. Maybe it will work for you.
Hey Poky girl,
I am sorry to hear about your pain. I would just keep icing it and resting it and maybe run with some of us slower mommies. :-)
Good luck! The chiropractor sounds like an interesting route that might work.
Keep us posted.
I hate injuries!! I hate anything that keeps a willing runner UNABLE to run!

I just talked to you on the phone :)

Our official stance here at Marathon Mommies is "LISTEN TO YOUR DOCTOR AND DO WHAT HE/SHE SAYS". I hope there is an easy solution to your problem. Remember R.I.C.E. (Rest, Ice, C? and Elevate)... what did that C stand for?? Hmmm...
Compression!!!
I ALWAYS forget what the "C" stands for. Thanks for clearing that up, SuzieP. : )
