Accountability

So mommies it's truth time? How have you done this last week in training? Erin, are you sticking to your new training plan? You pregnant women how are the bellies holding up? You girls amaze me. I just couldn't run while pregnant. It hurt those ligaments too much.

As for me, my right quad is still very tight but I can walk up and down the stairs pain free. I've spent 11 days in a pool now swimming laps and water running. I am improving my efficiency in the water. I will tear it up when my triathlons come up this summer. I will be meeting my coach on Friday morning to try running for the first time in 2 weeks. Wish me luck!

Funny you should ask..... I just ran this morning after taking a four day weekend. ha! I did ski on Saturday and yoga on Monday, but still-- hello marathon one month away!

I've done one 20 miler and have 16-er on the horizon this weekend. The weather should be beautiful and I am getting excited.

I am crossing fingers and toes for a successful run for you, foxontherun (is that your real name? Lucky. : )

For once in my life I can say that YES, I have stuck to my training schedule and I am proud of myself because I have been sick, and didn't use it as an excuse. I plotted out my 6 miler for this weekend which seems so far...but then I have to remind myself that you are all training and doing tripple that. Wow, I have a long way to go, don't I. Last night I was on a 4 miler and looked down at my garmin and noticed that I was running a 14 minute mile. WHAT? I really thought I was moving and anyone watching probably thought I was standing still. Oh well, I am giving it my all. I lost a few pounds which should help lighten my load. It would be so much easier if I wasn't carrying around an extra 40 lbs. Anyway, you ladies all amaze me. I just booked my Hilton Hotel and I am committed mentally now to. Thanks for the check up on me and for mentioning my name specifically. I need it.

Erin,

I am so glad to hear your success!!! I knew you could do it!

Foxy,

I am not running, yet.... I am still walking as fast as I can without puking a few miles several times a week. With only 30 days left, I am getting nervous that I won't be able to run the 5K. I'm hoping the 2nd trimester "energy boost" shows up soon and I will take the steps to a slow run....

P.S. Way to go Fox on your pool running! I hope your real running will be pain-free (or manageable!)

Congrats everyone! Sounds like you are all moving forward in your own different challenges - which is what it's all about. You all inspire me so much...to do just that. Since my calf problem has gone away, I have fallen in love with running again and been able to stick to my training. Last week I ran 6 miles for the first time since 1998. It was so exhilerating for me. I'm not sure I imagine running a full marathon someday but am trying to stay focused on these smaller goals first! I haven't really lost any weight, so that's been a little frustrating considering I wasn't exercising at all prior. But I'm not too worried, because it's doing so much for me mentally. I'm learning a lot too - which I love. For instance, I realize that I run my first 2 miles very slow and then I really kick it up once I get into mile 3. So I'm averaging about an 11 minute mile, which I feel pretty good about. Of course I want to improve someday but for now, I feel really good about it. I love the challenge ahead of me - to just keep improving. That's what I love best about running.

Thanks girls - as always! Keep up the good work. I can't wait to hear all about your SLC successes.

Nice job ladies...sounds like everyone is right where they should be...unfortunately for me, I had a bad case of the Norwalk virus for the past week and the only running I've done has been back and forth to the bathroom to bow to the throne king...uggh...my husband told me today that "I was getting really grouchy, and should hurry up and get better so I could run again..." Am I that transparent?

Erin...nice work sticking with it and staying motivated. Regardless of what speed you go all that matters is you finish eh?

All you ladies that are pregnant...send some of the vibes my way so I can end up like you too:) I think you are all inspiring for motivating people like me...

Foxontherun...I hope you find that your pool runs result in some great times. Glad to hear you're feeling better...

And for all that haven't commented and are running SLC, good luck...one month to go...

The dedication you all have is awesome. I'm so glad to cyber-know you all. Charity I hope the fertility goddess of running finds you soon!
I'm having a dilema. I'm running the Odgen half May 17th and training is proving tricky for me. Since it's a little less grueling than a full I find myself being easily distracted from my training schedule. When I was training for the full marathon it was all or nothing and I really felt dedicated to it. I am hoping to do the half in 1:47 so I have to get my butt in gear. So now that I've put my goal time out there, hopefully I'll feel accountable.

Good post, Foxy! You are doing awesome and I hope everything goes well for Boston. As you said, you know for sure you will kick butt in the triathlons!

Chelle- Great job enjoying life outside of running. :-) That is what's important.

Erin- Hooray for you!! You are doing awesome and I can't wait to meet you! Keep it up!

Team Hanni- You are a trooper! I hope you are running soon too. If not, walking a 5k would be great too! There is plenty of time after the baby to run. (I heard that a lot during my pregnancy.)

Lisamarie- Great update! That is awesome that you found your love of running again. The weight loss part can be frustrating, but I know for me it comes in waves. So, just be patient! That is great that you are learning a lot. I love that aspect of running also. One run at a time is the way to go!

Charity- Sorry you don't feel well. And I have been through the infertility roller coaster. I hope you are not on it long. You need to come to Oregon and run with Sarah. :-) Long story, if you want to know more just ask!

Poky girl- It has been so much fun running with you again! You are going to LOVE Ogden, I just know it! Hopefully you continuing to train will keep me motivated to meet at the YMCA once this marathon is over.

So, I posted without adding my own, oops! Things are continuing to go well. I am still just focusing on getting the miles and speedwork in and running smart. This has been a nice cutback week, in preparation for next week- the hardest week and last hard week before taper. Wow, so crazy that it is here.

2 20 milers down, one to go!

Great work to all of you!! Thanks for all of your support. I can't wait to meet all of you that come to SLC!!

I am not a member here, but check in all the time. I have been following Erin's schedule she posted to get ready for the half and I am rocking it- meaning doing it and not worrying about my 12-13 minute mile, ha! The 6-miler today is going to be tough but like Erin, I think of what all of you are doing for your training. You all inspire!

This weekend was a lot like Charity's...so I have to make up my 6 miler run during the week. (When am I going to do this? I have no idea...)
