I Triple Dog Dare Ya....

I decided on my run this morning that I'm going to challenge myself with "No Refined Sugar Until The Marathon".... Or maybe just until our get together the night before the marathon. ha ha.

This is a commitment of monumental proportions for me. Seriously.

I commit to you, internet, that if I fall short of this goal, I will owe each of you at the pre-marathon get together on April 18th a Clif Shot gel, you choose the flavor.

C'mon, who else is in? You know you want to. It couldn't possibly be any harder for YOU than it will be for ME -- a certified sugar junkie!

This is open to anyone. Any takers?

oh, Chelle...why do you torture me so?? My daughter's birthday is this weekend...can I put in a disclaimer just for that day? Crap...

I'm in. I need to be in.

I won't even pretend that I am capable of accepting this challenge. I think if I were to go off refined sugar my body would be so shocked that it would shut down. And then no marathon for me. So, you see... I clearly cannot accept the challenge. (How's that for an excuse?) The fact is that I know I would fail.

Your picture of the cupcake reminded me of the cupcake I made for my daughter's first birthday this weekend. I have a picture of it on my blog. It was YUMMY!

Ah, crap. I came back to erase this post... hoping no one had read it yet. ha ha.

It's been about 4 hours, and at this point I feel like if I make it through even today without eating some candy, a cookie, a handful of chocolate chips from the bag (do you have a stash, too?), I should get a parade.

JP, Of course you should eat cake at your daughters birthday party. I won't hold it against you if you don't. : )

And Sarah, directing me to your blog to look at pictures of enormous, delicious cupcakes.. that's plain mean. hee.

I am not doing the marathon in Salt Lake, but doing one in Charlottesville that day. I am in for the challenge though. My daughter's party was last weekend (and I have cupcake pictures on my blog too) so I need this challenge!

This is so funny. I just told my kids and my hubby that I am having no "treats" until the marathon. I even made them practice telling me no! Thanks for the extra motivation in my challenge!!

Oh, and thank you for pushing the pics of me down the blog!

And Suzie, Dallin is still asking over and over again if he can have a giant cupcake when he is 7-it was awesome!!

Chelle,

YOU ARE KILLING ME!! (Although I am glad to hear I am not the only one addicted to sugar!) I am so addicted to sugar that I managed to GAIN 5 pounds during training for this marathon! Pretty much I allowed myself to eat all things sugar that floated into my mind, because after all, I am training for a marathon. Urggggg.

I was thinking of doing this anyway, so, I'm going to do my best. That's all I can commit to. :)

Good luck everyone!!

ang, We must be eating twins. I had no idea it was possible to gain weight while training for a marathon. And then I had baby #4 and turned 31. Pooch-city. All my fault.

Have I mentioned I plan on buying one of those huge chocolate Costco cakes for the pre-race party??

:)

Sorry Chelle but there is no way! This is something I do on and off all the time when I am not pregnant, but I just don't think I can do it while pregnant. I actually thought about it for a second and then came back to reality. In order to deal with the uncomfortable things about pregnancy I need my sugar to look forward to. I totally want in on another race after the baby comes.

Hey! I am SO in...I did a no refined sugars diet with added emphasis on eating 3 servings of vegetable and 3 servings of fruits last fall and I had SO much more energy and my running was the best! I am a big believer in this...it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be and I found many snacks that were healthier to substitute my sugar cravings with.

Maggs,

Do tell what these healthy snacks are to calm my sugar cravings!!! I'm going nuts!

M&M- You are a total ROCK STAR!

Chelle- I almost wet my pants I was just laughing so hard at your comment. You are a rock star too! More like superwoman!

I on the other hand..... suck! I came home from my run last night at 11pm and searched the pantry until I found something sugary to eat. Marshmallows. Sad huh. Then the lightbulb went on and I realized that I had rice crispies cereal. Yes, I made myself my own personal batch of rice crispy treats. I ate them straight out of the bowl. Today, I start over.
