I ran a 5K PR!

Hey everyone,

I am anxious to hear all the race reports! I ran a local 5k this morning. I met up with our great running group and we warmed up by running to the race (about 2 miles away). 2 of us ran in the race. Jen ran with her daughter in a jogging stroller!

It was a little hotter than normal, so I tried not to expect too much. My PR is a 24:10 from 3 year ago. So, my goal was to beat 24 minutes. I was able to run it in 23:06!! I was very happy, but it was definitely tough in the end and I was starting to fade until my favorite Marathon Mommy Suzie Petunia surprised me by showing up to cheer me on. (She hates running 5K's because they hurt more than the long distance races!) It was great to see her and gave me that little push I needed to keep going strong! I love running a 5k or 10k after training for a marathon. :-)

Jen did awesome and finished in just under 28 minutes with the jogging stroller! I was so happy for her and amazed she could run it that fast. I am a wimp with a stroller. :-)

Can't wait to hear how everyone else did!!

I knew it was a fast pace but had to plug it into the pace calculator anyway. Holy smokes, you are FAST! Congratulations on a new PR, Kelly. Those PRs are falling left and right for you these days! :)

Wow. You are awesome. Maybe I should plan a 5k for a month or two out and see how I'd do. Nah. : ) I want to get faster, though, so share your speedwork tips!

That is so awesome...it's gotta be even kinda fun, right? To go back after you've done the big ones (a full marathon) and then do a 5k just for kicks?

The fun of racing without the 26.2? :)

LOVE IT!

I checked my Garmin during last night's run around the 23:06 time and I was nowhere near 3.1 miles...
