Is there a difference?

So this question may seem silly but is there a difference between Powerade and Gatorade? I know most marathons use Gatorade, so is it smart for me to train with Gatorade? Or can I switch things up and use Powerade? Are the same types of electrolytes and neccesary things in Powerade? Thanks for the help.

I found this article... http://faculty.washington.edu/crowther/Misc/RBC/QandA3.shtml

Here is the summary of it: "Viewed scientifically, the differences between Gatorade and Powerade are small, with neither beverage appearing clearly superior to the other. I personally prefer Gatorade, since it replaces sodium losses more effectively than Powerade does. However, this may not be an important consideration except in very long runs in which several liters of sweat are secreted."

Then there is this article...

http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/413298/gatorade_versus_powerade_which_is_the.html

"For serious athletes, Gatorade has a slight advantage especially in hot climates. The average person working or working out in the heat should see no difference in the electrolyte effects of either product, but may enjoy the flavor of PowerAde more due to the extra sugars. This is a tough call."

I like the taste of Gatorade better- Powerade has a kind of salty taste to me. I have used them both though and can't really tell a difference in performance.

That's funny, I think Gatorade has a saltier taste. :)

Let's be honest, I don't lurve either...so I grin and bear it whichever I drink.

Try chocolate milk instead! It may work just as well! Read this! Seriously though, I didn't find any difference between Gatorade or Powerade. I drank Powerade more often when training for my marathon, but that was just because it was usually on sale. Most of the time I just drank water on my long runs.

I would try both. I liked G2 or Powerade Option, which have less sugar. But then I started opting for just water because the sugar was upsetting my stomach. Which will they be using at your race? You may want to try getting used to that one.
