Needing motivation and accountability

I admit, I am a little pathetic. I follow through much better with my goals if I have to report them. So, I am asking all of you wonderful mommies (even the lurkers!) if you will be my support system- again! My goal right now is to eat healthy and add weight training to my exercise (which I know is important!) When we did our no-sugar challenge (thanks Chelle!) it was all of you who kept me going.

So, if you are also trying to set these goals, comment on this post and we will set up check-in each Monday to report how our week went. Also, when you comment let us know your personal goals!

Thanks in advance! Let us know also if you have any ideas to make this work.

I also need to be eating healthier and weight lifting. My knees are about to fall apart and if I don't start doing some lifting to strengthen my knees, I am not sure I will make it through this marathon training. I am not running at all this week, only cross training on the bike and lifting.

I am really mostly a lurker, but I will be happy to help you with your challenge. It will help me with mine, in return.

I am going through training next weekend for personal training. The program focuses on pre- and post-natal fitness. I am hoping that I can help others reach their goals.

good luck with the healthy eating and weight training!!

I definitely need to eat better (less sugar) and do any kind of cross training. I really need to strengthen my core. I'd love to participate.

Count me in also. I'm looking at a very hilly half marathon in November and a full in February. Not to mention these last few post-partum pounds are putting up a good fight.

Will get some cross-training in and re-introduce light weights (high rep).

Two months until the hubs gets home from Iraq. I've lost 32 pounds since he's been gone and I really want to surprise him when he gets back. I need to make this time count.

I love this idea. My goal is to run all of my planned runs for the rest of the month, and since they are all morning runs, the plan is to not let myself sleep in. I'm working on eating healthy as well.

Although I have found great benefits to becoming a more "serious" runner I have also found that many of my body parts not used so much while running(arms and abs) have kinda gone to pot. So I'm trying to focus on getting to a pilates and weight traing class at the gym at least once a week. Also I am determined to become a better swimmer. I went to my first masters swim class this morning and she pretty much told me to forget anything I thought I already knew about swimming and let's just start from the very begining so I swam for about 45 minutes with the little floaty thing between my legs. I'm hoping to be the next Dara Torres!

I love having to be accountable...I am going to re-evaluate my attitude on the dreadmill....I mean treadmill..thanks for everyone's great advice by the way....I am also going to try to get to the gym (starting next week when all the kids go back to school) for added weights and possibly a spinning class? I haven't ever done one before, so we'll see how THAT goes...

You always have such great ideas Kelly!

This is a great idea. I have been having a hard time this last month motivating myself to do my long runs (cause I have to get up around 4:45am) I am running the St. George Marathon (my first) and I just need this extra push to get through my last three really long runs. Thanks!! Would love to help you all out too.

Excellent notion!! :)

My goals are similar to yours...my training is not what I would like it to be, so that is my biggest focus. Strength training is a huge goal for me too...along with good nutrition, etc.

Count me in as well. I just want to do better all around, including running four times a week as opposed to heading out and expecting to be able to do my long runs. I also need to eat healthier (I am thinking about that ice cream in the fridge as I write this). I am starting to psyche myself out about my Oct 5 Portland Marathon. I think I have too many goals, I have also made a goal to compete in at least one race or event a month until my husband comes home from Iraq. So far I have done so!

I am with Lisa, by helping you it will help me! I have had 2 bad weeks with my marathon training and need to get back on the horse! Seems the kids and husband can derail that pretty easily :)
