Ok, all you amazing moms out there, I need your help. I am freakin' out! So many people have been telling me NOT to train for a marathon b/c I will get injured. Now, after all the times I have denied that this would ever happen to me... it's happening. I could not finish my run Friday morning! I have had a few kinks along the way, achy knees, etc but nothing big so far. I completed my 2nd 20 mile run last Saturday and my right leg was sore at the end, but ok. I stretched alot, took a cold bath, and 2 ibuprofen, I didn't worry. But Wednesday was my 7 mile run and it was hard to ignore the throbbing in my knee. Now my first marathon is only 2 weeks away and I think I might have IT band syndrome. I am not sure yet. Friday morning was awful. After just 1 mile I was in pain. All the problems are on my right side. If I could just chop off my leg I would be fine! It's not just on the outside of my knee though, it's my right hip flexor too. By the end of the 8 miles, (should have been 12) I could barely bend my right leg or lift it at all. I was sort of shuffling just to finish after an hour and 40 minutes. What do I do? I am mentally going berserk here. I am thinking I won't be able to do this marathon, after all this work, training, etc. My training friend says I should take at least a week off, no running at all. It would be so hard to do that at this point. Does anyone have an experience like this? I know I am supposed to be tapering at this point, but to stop training just seems like a crazy decision. What do I do?
