Double Joggers

Hello, Marathon Mommies! I have a question for you mommies that don't mind putting in lots of miles with your jogging strollers. I am expecting baby #2 and have started my search for a double jogger. I have an inStep stroller that I have put many miles on with my first and I've loved it. I lucked out and bought it used for $50. I'm looking to possibly buy my double jogger used as well...but want to educate myself a little first. So, those of you that run with a double jogger what have you found that works for you, what brands do you prefer and what should I watch out for when looking for my next stroller? Thanks for your help!

Mine was given to me, so I didn't get to do this research. I have a One Step Ahead (I think it is made by Baby Trend). It is ok but not ideal.

Several of my friends have the double BOB Revolution and LOVE it. It has an adapter for the infant carseat and a toddler tray. I have never heard a single mom complain about her BOB (and I teach Stroller Strides with a LOT of moms with strollers).

Good luck!

I think it depends on how much running you're doing and what your terrain is like. When I was a beginning runner, I bought a used baby trend double jogger. I had a 3yo and a 1yo at the time (this was five years ago), and it was fine for jogging around the neighborhood, and especially good for walking. A year later I got pregnant and I was a much fitter runner and spent a lot of my time on hills, and it was a killer to be pushing 70lbs of kids up hills while pregnant with that stroller. After my third kid was born I bought a Dreamer Design Ditto and I've loved it. I've had it for four years now and it's nice and light and turns so easily compared with the Baby Trend. I run with my 4yo and 2yo a couple of times a week in it. I've also run with a friend's BOB, and I like that one even better than mine. I also have a baby jogger single stroller that I rescued from someone's trash pile and I think that's a great brand too.

I have a Chariot, which I love, mostly because I like the versitility of it. I have the ability to convert from Jogging to hiking, biking or skiing which makes it ideal for my family. It also has shocks on it which help the comfort of my kiddos, especially when trail running. The one downside is that it is fairly expensive and if you are on a budget, it might take you several months to save up.

I've had a Dreamer Design for two years and have loved every mile of the 100's I've put on it. I have also run with a BOB double and must admit that I enjoyed that run even more than with my Dreamer. Maybe also check out the Tike Tech ATX...I've never run with it, but have a running neighbor who loves hers. The only advice I have with a double is don't go cheap, even if you're normally frugal, this is one item you deserve to splurge on. Otherwise, you'll just have a bad stroller that never gets used!Happy shopping!

I love my BOB. It is an older model and I got it used on KSL.com (if you're in Utah) They are the best which also means they are the most expensive. I went with a cheaper model but I gotta say the BoB Revolution Dullie is still my dream stroller. The things I decided that I wanted the most were: great sun canopy, independantly reclining seats, and somewhere to stash the toys/drinks.

I have a single BOB and a double Dreamer Design. I love both for running but the DD is definitely lighter than the BOB which is great for running longer distances on roads and/or other hard surfaces.

I have to agree with the crowd.... my Bob Revolution Duallie is AMAZING!!!! I love it. It's the reason I can run. There is no way I'd trade it for anything else. It smooth as can be, provides the kids (3 years and 20 months) with plenty of space for themselves and all their stuff (a few small toys, a blanket, a book, a snack). Sun protection is a must and the bob does it well. I don't recline the seats while I run but it's great for the other times we use it (events, stores, walks). It's strong and well made. I am training for my first 1/2 marathon and I have put LOTS of miles on it. Just since October I'd say well over 60.... she's had two flat tires but otherwise, no trouble at all. Worth every penny to run comfortably with two children! We got ours from REI.

I have a BOB Revolution single jogger and a BOB Ironman duallie. I love them both (nothing but a BOB for me!) I have to say that the Ironman duallie is almost easier to run with, even though it weighs about 10 lbs. more plus the weight of a 2nd child. I believe it's due to the large, slick tires and something about it being wider, I am not sure. Check Ebay for a great deal on a new one because they are hard to come by used.

I have a double Dreamer Design, and I LOVE it!
I would go with that or the Bob if you are planning on doing any serious running with it.
