I Did It!

So, I actually did it. I've always said that one day I was going to do a marathon. That one day came this past weekend. I ran the PF Chang's Rock-n-Roll marathon in Phoenix. It was a great experience and went as well as I could've imagined. I posted a more detailed account of it here on my blog. I came in at 4 hours 43 minutes. Not that fast, but I was just hoping to get under 5 hours, so I was really excited about it. It felt great, I didn't really start to feel extremely fatigued until about Mile 21-22 so I was really glad for that. It felt good to feel like I had trained the best I could for this marathon. Thanks for letting me share with people that can understand my excitement about this accomplishment! (Click on the picture and take a look at the guy running next to me...)

Congratulations! You inspire me as I am training for my first (and hopefully last too) full marathon this spring! But really what was that guy in the picture thinking? I wonder what his feet looked like at the end!

ok.. can someone explain why anyone would run barefooted? YIKES
my feet would be torn to shreds if i did that.... and what if he stepped on something sharp? His race would be over! wow.

thanks for everyone's kind comments! i am still super excited about the accomplishment, but don't know that i'll be doing it again...it was hard training for it by myself with two boys in the stroller all the time (my husband is a medical student), so unless someone convinced me to do it with them...yeah, i ran basically right next to the shoeless guy until mile 23 (those were some nasty feet!), i think he trains and runs marathons like that on a regular basis-he was talking to other people about it during the race...anyways, thanks again for being excited for me!!

Maybe I am crazy, but I would love to run a marathon barefoot. I would really love to run a marathon while barefoot and pregnant. I think that would be so funny!
