I am having issues with low blood pressure. would love to hear if any of you have had issues with low blood pressure...... i am calling my dr tomorrow cause i am tired of being tired.... but wanted to see if any of you have this problem too.
today after feeling good after my morning run... then eating breakfast and lunch my pressure was 72 over 49......

if you do have issues... have you found a natural cure?
and
how do you balance your salt intake-running etc?

thanks for the info...
Looking forward to my 8miler this coming weekend :) getting closer to my half .. yipee!

I have a problem with low blood pressure too. I haven't found any great remedy for it, but I am very careful to take in plenty of fluid-especially with electrolytes while I run-especially when I am on really long runs. I have been told that I have a higher chance of passing out while running if the blood pressure gets too low...So I just try to be really careful. I usually will have a little bag of something salty (like chips, Fritos etc) right after a long run to try to level myself out a little. I would love to know if anyone else has any suggesstions too.

If you have low blood pressure, then that would signal that something is wrong with your circulation. But such conclusion wont be definite until after 3 successive low blood pressure results. So just be positive. You can do it! ; ) Just keep the fire burning!

Glad I found your blog...
I have low blood pressure as well (not as low as yours, but low enough to make my head spin on occasion).

I am a high salt sweater when I run, so I've started eating oranges or apples with sea salt on them before and after a long runs. I was surprised that something so simple really helped.

Good luck...

I am glad that I found your discussions; I am hoping some of you could give me a little insight on low blood pressure and running. I have hypothyroidism which low blood pressure is a key factor. I have always known I have had low blood pressure, however, no doctor has ever told me how serious this could be. I have recently started to take my blood pressure more frequently after reading that from sitting or lying positions and going to standing you shouldn't feel like you're going to pass out. I've been around 107/65 and even 97/64 my lowest. But what concerns me is even after running is still reads about the same 117/69. Does having low blood pressure make it more difficult to run than per say having normal blood pressure? I am over weight and don't eat the healthiest, but I have begun changing my eating habits in hope to shed a few pounds and to hopefully make running easier. But I even at my normal weight I remember running being of a struggle for me as well. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Glad to find out this blog regarding to blood pressure. My blood pressure is about 140/88 before running, becomes 100/67 after one hour 8km running. My doctor can not give me and reason and ask me to stop running. I don't want to give up running and hope some give me the reason of pressure dropping down after running. Thanks

Today, I went to the beach with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4
year old daughter and said "You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear." She placed the shell to her ear and screamed.

There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is totally off topic but I had to tell someone!

Hi
Two weeks ago I was found collapsed on the ground in our local area. This was all due to a history of low blood pressure. Ease into your runs, make sure you stretch, and also do this after your run. Recommendations given to me were to increase salt, coffee and natural liquorice in diet too. My readings were around 100/40. Best to seek medical advice though. I have low chlorestoral and heart rhythms too. All very useful when training long distance. Hoping to get back out there with my two border collies...perhaps even run my first marathon. I have done 7 half marathons with low blood pressure. If feeling dizzy lie down without crouching or get head below chest...I hope this helps. A big scare for our young family. It is generally hereditary. It explains a few things for me. Take care

I ran a half marathon on the weekend and when I finished they took my blood pressure to find that it was 80/45.
I felt ok but they said I need to stay put and drink plenty of water to hydrate to increase my blood pressure back to a normal range. Getting a little worried now about running long distances after this incident. I run by myself most days and some days upto 20km.
I'm going to see my doctor to see if there is anything that can be done.
