I jogged a 1/2 mile today.
I'm serious.
I'm proud.
It wasn't hard. It was easy. It was hard to not keep going. But I stopped, like a good girl. I wanted more though.
I've missed running so much. My first run after having the baby and C-section I overdid it because I was so excited to be running and I pulled my piriformis muscle. This is a common injury for those running who aren't conditioned. The pirimormis muscle is in your butt and (ignore the french) is a pain in the A$$! It is a muscle that touches the sciatic nerve and sometimes the nerve even goes through it. Anyway, it has made even walking sometimes impossible. But today I jogged a half mile and I'm proud. I'm so happy to be back.
If any of you ever have this problem, let me know. I've learned a lot of good stretches that help the muscle so it doesn't pull on your nerve and cause so much pain.
Anyway, I've missed you all. And now I can join back in the chat. It ain't much...but still. I'm so pleased. I never realized how much I missed running until I had to stop myself tonight. I really wanted more!

Congrats on getting back out there!!!!
You are AWESOME!! Keep it up:~)
Oh Erin I just love you! Congrats on your 1/2 mile of bliss. Woohoo!
woooooowhooooo! I am so excited for you! I know how you feel... not the pain in the butt part but i had a pain in the back for way too long...its hard to be out of running for a while isnt it?
way to go! :) wooowhoo!
I haven't experienced that problem (yet :-) but there is an article about that very injury in the last Runner's world that I was just reading this morning.... it does sound very painful. Great Job in getting back out there after such a non-fun injury.
Welcome back!! Sweet!
Wahoo!!
Way to go, Girl!!
Congrats! After baby number one I locked my SI joint after a run (I also found out it was a common injury for women runners who have just had children). It was painful, no fun, and put me out of running for over a month. So I know how incredible it feels to finally be able to run again after a baby and an injury. Way to go and good luck!!!
Congrats! I know how good it feels to come back after an injury. I am currently in the process of recovering from pulling my piriformis muscle. If you have any extra stretches, I would love you to post them! (or a link or something.)
Thanks!
Congrats! That gives me hope - I'm pregnant with my third and haven't been able to run, as I'd hoped. I plan on getting back there as soon as I'm cleared for activity post c-section!!! Good for you!
