I feel like I'm eight months pregnant.....

I realized this morning that I feel like I'm eight months pregnant. Really I'm not, I just training for a marathon that is one month away...

When I'm eight months pregnant, I feel tired, I have parts of my body that hurt, I am anxious, and I'm looking forward to being done......That is how I feel now.

Early in a pregnancy, the process of Labor really scares me but as I get closer to my due date...Labor is less scary and I'm just ready to get it over with....That is how I feel about the actual Marathon now....still a little scary, but I'm ready to get it over with.

And somehow I know that after all is said and done (and I've forgotten about all the bad stuff) I'll probably be willing to do it all over again :)

Good luck to everyone else that is training for St. George, Top of Utah or any of the other Fall Marathons...we're almost there!

You know, I feel the exact same way! At least after our marathons our over though, we won't have months upon months of sleep deprivation!

My daughter and I are ten days away from Tamarindo Beach marathon. A couple of weeks ago when we were about 18 miles into a 20 mile run I told her I felt really old. She said if this is what old feels like she will never get out of bed when she gets old!

I've blogged a couple of times about how marathon training is a lot like pregnancy and childbirth. The similarities really are amazing, aren't they?

I'm doing TOU so I'm in the same boat. Thankfully, it's taper time, so I'm making the most of it.

Good luck!

What a great analogy! I am running Portland. . .I officially signed up Monday. I have one more long run to do and then the taper starts. I agree with you. . .I am ready to have it over with. I feel like my whole summer has revolved around my long runs and training. I can't wait to not be worried about what and when I eat and "how it will effect my run!" I wish all of you the best of luck and can't wait for your race reports!

I am feeling the very same, and have compared what I am feeling to labor and delivery...minus the baby. I am running the st. george marathon too, my first marathon, my first race, in fact. Great post. Stay positive, I know easier said, that's all you can do, plus an awesome support group. See ya in a month!!!

I have compared distance running to pregnancy, labor, and childbirth soooo many times. Seriously, the mental, emotional, and physical things your go through are very much alike.

Such a great comparison. I'm doing the NYC marathon in less than 2 months and I'm starting to get anxious. Not to mention that my runs are getting long and serious and I am all kinds of tired and achy after these long runs.

Amen to that, Cal! I did a 20 yesterday and I wanted to die at the end (actually, at about 16). I actually started to ask myself, "Why am I doing this?" Even though I know when I cross that finish line I will feel like it was all worth it. Here's to less than one month to St.George!

Are we all going to try and get together the night before? I think we should meet at the expo or something. It would be fun!

Robyn...and any other marathon mommies running St. George,
We should try to get together down there! That would be so fun. A group my friends are renting a house for the race and I think we are going to have our own Pasta Dinner...any of the marathon mommies who would like to join us-are more than welcome! I'll let you know of the details later :) Ahh..less than one month? Scary!
