yoga & running

It had been two years since my last Bikram yoga class and it was definitely something I missed. My first class after such a long break was over the weekend and tonight was my second. What a tremendous stretch! I feel amazing. I love the intense 90 minutes of focusing on nothing and no one else but myself. I'm not sure how I'm going to incorporate this into my running life, but I'm determined to make the two work together. I'm thinking two days of yoga, four days of running and one day of rest per week. What do you think?

Sounds like a perfectly wonderful plan! I need to get back into yoga. I miss it.

Sounds really good, especially if you are training for something, I don't think you can go under 4 days of running.

With my newfound two hours of preschool freedom, I've decided to incorporate a yoga class so that I can run in the early morning and then hit the yoga class on the same day. I would love to get up to five days of yoga (I'm 3-4 right now). I know you guys can relate (as moms to young kids) to the importance of keeping this all in balance, and there is only so much time I'm going to give to "working out" each day. It can get out of wack, I believe.

Suzie has been trying to get me into Yoga, but honestly I don't know if I could "think" for 90 minutes. I am too giggly and immature. :-) But then again, I still don't know how I can run for 3, 4, or 5 hours in one stretch! After the marathon I want to go down to 4 days a week of running also. I am going to take all of your advice and try yoga. I agree, Chelle, I feel I am always trying to figure out the best balance.

Cherl, I was also going to say, you should ask permission if you're going to use a picture of me doing yoga. (ha ha... a girl can dream, right?)

Sorry, Chelle. I didn't think you'd mind. ;-)
