Where I've Been (and why I'll be there awhile)

You may have wondered where I went since my participation on this blog has been null and void from about midway through the first Run-for-the-Bling contest. (Or maybe you haven't--there are an awful lot of us now.) Well, the good news is that I'm pregnant. Yay! The bad news is that at about 8 weeks, my doctor advised me that I should hold off on the running. Boo! This advice stems from some irregular heart patterns and discomfort I started feeling. For a couple of weeks, rebel and running lover that I am, I kept at it anyway, attempting to modify speed and/or distance. But the fact is that I was still having the heart issues and I was hating running at such a reduced rate. The point is, I've had to give it up completely. So yes, I still check in on you all and read your posts but feel that I have effectively been thrown out of the world of running for the next 7 months.

It has been such a strange experience--one month running enveloped every aspect of my life and thoughts and 3 months later it has no part of my life. So if I don't comment or post much in the next little while, you'll understand, right? But I'll still be rejoicing with those of you who finish your races, or qualify for Boston, or lose your goal weight, or whatever. I'll be reading and storing up motivation for September--when I will finally be able to run again.

Polliwog! Congratulations on the baby! What terrific news. But my condolences on not being able to run... that really stinks. Of course you should follow your doctor's advice - good job for doing that. Does he/she recommend other kinds of exercise? I hope you still hang around with us! How are you feeling? Sick? I hope it isn't bad.

Yeah for you! You had mentioned before that you thought you might be pregnant soon, so first, congrats on your plan working out. :-) Second, I know exactly how you feel about not running. I thought I would be able to run through my pregnancy and my doctor did not agree. I watched Suzie, smith and another good runner friend run well into their pregnancies and I will admit I was jealous. However, I was not jealous of them having to scrape the ice off their windows to run in the dark and cold. :-)

Enjoy the break, you will get back before you know it.
