Ready or not, here it comes! I just signed up for the Newport Marathon. It takes place on May 30th. This means I have 20 weeks until the big day. Last year was such a disappointment after working so hard and then NOT qualifying for Boston, butI learned so much about myself and I enjoyed training with friends and virtual friends! So, my goal of course is to attempt to qualify again. I am nervous, but excited. I have a great group of running partners, and that makes all the difference. I have all of you and your experiences to keep me going each day. I was asked last night what motivates me to get up in the morning to run, and I said that NOT exercising is NOT an option for me. So, if not in the morning, when? I would much rather run with awesome friends and get some chatting in, than run on the treadmill by myself. The accountability is great! So, here's to another training cycle! I look forward to hearing from all of you!
My run today was a beautiful, hilly course on the back roads of our little town. There were 7 of us, men and women, all different abilities. I love getting to know the other runners. It was very foggy, which made it nice to not see the hills! It was a great start to this training. Hopefully this run will get easier for me as I add more mileage. Let's do this!
