Please Don't Die From Shock...I'm Still Here

For some reason, stress fractures can take a long time to heal. And your doctor starts to get worried about how long it's taking for you to heal. Really, he's more worried that you're going to key his car because you've been out for so long. (Those were his words. Not mine.) (He's pretty hilarious when he wants to be.)

So then you're better, finally...but then, of course, there's all this nervousness and hesitation to start running again. No one wants to deal with all that again. It took me a LONG time to get my act together. But being committed to a family Ragnar team sure does get your butt in gear. Especially when one of your best friends commits to running with you and your family. YOU CAN'T BACK OUT.

I suppose a smarter, saner person would start out with a more conservative distance when getting back into the swing of things. We can debate my smartness and sanity at another time, but Wasatch Back was approaching, and I was officially training.

This would be my second time battling the Wasatch Mountains. The first time, I went to battle with some of the loveliest Marathon Mommies we have here. And as luck would have it, I would be Runner 2 once again this time around. Now, I'm not going to get into everything...but I think I wanted to post a little bit of a race recap because I'm proud of finishing. I'm proud that I did better than last time. Even coming back from a lengthy injury recovery, I improved. The altitude didn't kick my tail quite so hard this time around. I'm not saying it was pretty (or easy), but I'm proud of the improvement. I'm proud that crossing that finish line with my awesome team inspired me to continue with my running goals I've set for myself. I didn't stop, even when most people wouldn't have blamed me if I did.

I'm not fast. I'm not a natural runner...but I run. And it's really good to be back.

Any one interested in revisiting Wasatch Back?

Hey Ladies! I know I haven't posted much lately and I really have no excuses, but I have a big empty (at the moment) team for Wasatch back! So far I have 1 possibly (she is just waiting on St George Lotto) so that means I have room for about 10 more of you! I am not looking for a competitive team, just one that knows how to laugh (a LOT) and have fun! If you want to go check out some of the fun we had from last year you can go here. We ended up with 2 team of moms from around the country met up and had a "wicked fun time"! If you want more info (or need me to talk you into it-because I am really good at that) email me at info@theribbonspot.com. First come first serve so hurry :)

Wasatch Back--- questions!!!

Hey there gals!

My husband and I have officially registered for the Wasatch Back. We are running it on our 10-year anniversary. We are so excited!!!

I have never run it before, so I have some questions for those of you who have experienced this relay.
Did you use trail running shoes to run the relay? If so, I'm assuming you trained in them as well? What kind of training did you do in order to get ready?

Any other extra info would be greatly appreciated!!

Wasatch Back Video

Hey guys...sorry to be posting yet again...I guess I've just been having too much fun running lately. I just wanted to put a link to a little amatuer video I made of our Wasatch Back team. I thought that maybe some of you running mommies who haven't had a chance yet to run in one of these fun relay races would like to see what they are like (kindof). I have it posted on my blog Here

Run, Drive, Sleep? Repeat!!!

I'm not sure why it is so much fun to spend two long days (with no night :) crammed in a stinky minivan surviving on peanut butter m&m's and GU to get the 188 miles from Logan to Park City...but it just is!!
